POPSMcCain camp portrays Obama as stumping in Europe McCain himself has taken three trips abroad since claiming the GOP nomination earlier this year, mixing television interviews with made-for-the-camera stops at such politically valuable locales as Jerusalem's Wailing Wall and Mexico City's Basilica of Guadalupe. But his campaign says there is a difference.

POPSWhite House Ignored Detainee Innocence As far as I can figure out, this is the Bush admin. worrying that it might be embarrassed by the ham-handedness of their wide net approach to collecting detainees. Instead of admitting that they may have gone a little overboard, they kept innocent people in prison. This creates a new class of political prisoner -- the inconvenient and unrectified mistake.

POPSPlatform Fight Ahead for GOP? Jesse Helms may be dead, but his lousy politics live on . There's nothing that Democrats would like better than a big fight over how crazy the GOP platform is going to be. Let the nuts shriek, If the GOP's screwed now, this would hammer a nail in their coffin.

POPSMcCain Campaign Team Shakeup Because that's what McCain really needs, to be more closely associated with Bush. Turns out that 68% of voters were right -- McCain is Bush III.

POPSDump this blowhard This toon would be funny, except the empty suit Obama would not have the courage to strap on a jet aircraft. And Clark the war hero who criticizes McCain? This blowhard was a '66 grad of West Point. In the middle of a war, does he get out to the front as do his classmates? Hell no. He trots over to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar for two years while his classmates are fighting and dying. He finally makes it over to 'Nam in '70 where he is a general's aide for 6 months, and finally commands a company for less than 1 month in combat where he is shot four times by a VC and evacuated to the U.S. where, after he recuperates from minor flesh wounds, takes up a teaching post back at West Point. And he criticizes John McCain! Birds of a feather fly together... and so do empty suits.

POPSCabinet approves Hisbullah Prisoner Swap Well, if the Israeli *prisoners* are dead, perhaps that's how the Hizbullah's *prisoners should return? Does this make sense? I would want the bodies/bones of my relatives returned to me, but why should live people be traded for dead ones? (only in Israel)

POPSNo Wonder John McCain Wants to Give Himself a Huge Tax Cut No wonder McCain wants to give himself and wife a huge tax cut. They need the money to pay their past due taxes on their beach condo in CA. For four years they didn't pay their taxes. And we are supposed to trust this guy with nation's economy? If he didn't have the means that would be one thing. But owning seven homes and his wife is rich--come on! This guy is a phony.

POPSA Tale of Two Johns We? Out of the 92-6 vote, two senators were not present. One of them was Ted Kennedy, who is home recovering from brain surgery. The other was John McCain. Even John Cornyn was faux-brave enough to vote "yea" after his defiance was stomped out of Congress like a flaming bag of dog shit. Time and time again, John McCain has been a detriment to troops and veterans, not only for his disastrous plans for Iraq but for the curtailing of benefits soldiers receive when they come home. His loyalty no longer resides with fellow veterans but to slick D.C. politics. I know you're not reading this, Senator McCain, but we'll be watching for more of the same.
