Agnostics and atheists
JohnWaterman
by JohnWaterman  5-9-2009    4
Using this definition (which seems right to me) most atheists I've met are open minded enough to be called agnostic atheists, whereas most theists are (in my experience) pretty close minded gnostic theists; they tend to confuse "believing" and "knowing".

What's the Difference?
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  4-17-2009    10
cont., Once it is understood that atheism is merely the absence of belief in any gods, it becomes evident that agnosticism is not, as many assume, a “third way” between atheism and theism. The presence of a belief in a god and the absence of a belief in a god exhaust all of the possibilities. Agnosticism is not about belief in god but about knowledge — it was coined originally to describe the position of a person who could not claim to know for sure if any gods exist or not.

 # Republicans — Refuse funding to keep the "stuff" from happening. # Democrats — Declare that the "stuff" had a right to happen because of the environmental factors that preceded it. # Conservatives — The government causes "stuff" to happen. # Liberals — Only the government can stop "stuff" from happening. # Libertarians — I don't want the government to interfere with MY "stuff" happening.

Personal Carbon Ration Card For Every Citizen
merrie
by merrie  6-8-2008
of tar-and-feathering anyone who dares question climate alarmism -- a key tactic in their effort to dupe the nation into consuming the green Kool-Aid. One event is an indisputable historical fact of hideous dimensions; the prophesied specter of catastrophic global warming, however, is just a politically driven fear scenario based on unreliable computer models and the wishful bending of the laws of climate physics. There is no comparison. Can anyone reasonably equate, say, the 31,000 U.S. scientists, engineers and physicians who recently signed a petition against global warming alarmism -- including Princeton theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson and Massachusetts Institute of Technology climatologist Richard Lindzen -- with the likes of neo-Nazis and Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who constantly calls for Israel's destruction? But Krauthammer's adoption of the greens' most effective word weaponry nonetheless plays into their thought-shaping rhetoric.

Atheists aren't skeptical enough and...
Efrain Alvarado
by Efrain Alvarado  6-4-2008    3
...the best skeptics are actually theists. The agnostics ski down the mountain into the woods, searching for hard evidence on the basis of which to decide whether God exists—which is very odd, given that a moment ago they were standing here with us, ready to climb as declared skeptics. Agnostics, plainly, are wafflers in their skepticism: As the team gets going, they U-turn back to the foothills, where every true skeptic says there is nothing to find. They do not care about the truth. But even more astonishing than that, the atheists have just gone home. They are not down in the valley looking for evidence; they are not looking at all. They have packed in the science without lifting a boot, as if the summit were already taken, the question answered.

Hello All You Godless Infidels And Happy Heathens
cptenaud
by cptenaud  10-10-2007    6
Gaylor said this to start her show, Hello all you godless infidels, out-of-the-closet atheists and happy heathens. You can turn on the radio or TV 24/7 to be preached at. This is one hour a week of the public airwaves that offers an alternative. This program is an antidote to the domination of public airwaves by the religious right. Your humble correspondent eagerly await the nauseating and hypocritical outcry from Fox Noise and the religious right in this country which is sure to come. For to them, freedom of religion has never meant freedom from religion and certainly not from our own brand of home-grown Christianity which more and more Americans are viewing as blatantly hypocritical, judgmental and overbearing.

A recent survey I read suggests that religion (in america) is not so dominant as the 90% and higher figures depict. The way the questions are asked can greatly influence the outcome of a survey and the number of non believers actually runs around 25% rather than the often stated 9%
