Senate Rejects Obama's Labor Board Nominee
jatfla
by jatfla  Today 7:15 PM
Well, doo-daa. So Lincoln and Nelson joined in. Are these fair-weather politicians or are they really nervous as the worm is turning? I'm all for unions who want to support their members in the political system. I'm not for forcing or manipulating their members into the necessity of joining unions. Here I'm pro-choice. I wonder if there are more rejections coming.

Internet Censorship Alert! Blacklist Dissenting Sites
justchill
by justchill  Today 11:22 AM
The Western world, from Australia to the United States, UK and parts of Europe, are moving in a unified front toward dictatorial Internet censorship. Australia has led the way, despite outcry from its populace, by “filtering” out certain banned content. In the United States, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, in continuing his family’s tradition of oppressing free humanity, has pushed forward Cybersecurity legislation that has already passed the House. He has done so in the name of warding off ghastly cyber “attackers” conceivably fronting for al Qaeda while ushering in a means to restrict free speech and expression online for the general population

Did you know you're not allowed to say Moleskine on the web without permission?
enbar
by enbar  Yesterday 11:02 PM    2
Wow, Moleskine sure has a lot of rules about what you can and can't do with the word "Moleskine" on the web. Examples: you cannot use it generically or as an adjective, you must include the (registered trademark) symbol, and any page referencing the Moleskine name must include the disclaimer, "MOLESKINE is a trademark registered by Moleskine S.r.l." Also, technically, you must have the company's permission, though the implication seems to be that they will not prosecute you if you follow the listed guidelines. Is this kind of thing common?

Why we can't afford to let Obama give Bush's war criminals a free pass, by attorney/author Charlotte Dennett
CarolGee
by CarolGee  2-6-2010
This post is by Charlotte Dennett, who is the author of the newly released The People v. Bush: One Lawyer’s Campaign to Bring the President to Justice and the National Grassroots Movement She Encounters Along the Way. Formerly a journalist reporting from the Middle East, she now practices law. If, indeed, the Iraq war was all about the oil, the Bush administration's choice to ignore or manipulate the rule of law makes perfect sense. That does not justify it, however. And that is just the point of her excellent piece.

Honesty Came To O'Reilly's "No" Spin Zone Today.
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  2-4-2010
Imagine, a wee little bit of honesty coming to Fox (News?). The "No" Spin Zone with its host, BallyHooey Bill-O, who wouldn’t know honesty if it ran up and hit him over the head, (which the intellectually witty Jon Stewart virtually did) welcomed Jon Stewart on February 3, 2010. Wow! The mental contrast of bright and dull, between the two, almost seems unfair to imbalanced O’Reilly. But believe it or not it was somewhat entertaining if you could overlook the childish name calling from O'Reilly. He is so use to his Romper Room Tactics that he would not be able to get through a day without them. Hats Off To Jon Stewart The Most Trusted Wit On TV!

Obama Debated by Comedy Central on Fox News
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  2-4-2010    1
Comedy has become news. And news covers comedy. News show satirist, John Stewart was interview on Bill O'Reilly's Fox News show. It was quoted on regular TV news this morning. (See clip). Suppose to be a comedian, many times Stewart's questions and comments get more to the core of news and the issues than most shows that think they're 'serious.' -- although all our news these days is mainly spin rather than an honest look at things. Stewart's recent comedy criticisms of President Barack Obama have even drawn Wall St. Journal opinion articles wondering if this meant the downfall of Obama's "stoned slacker supporters." (one of their routine insults). Far from it. Obama getting a fair slice of criticism is cool and what Stewart's show is all about. The difference is that Fox News is an example of critics who want to tear down the President everyday and will find any excuse to do so. So...comedy has become news. And news covers comedy. Thank God someone can be honest.

How Many Fights Will Obama Pick With America?
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  2-3-2010    3
Great leaders, when faced with a divided electorate, not to mention difficult economic times, use a limited agenda to forge consensus out of broken paradigms. Once they achieve an initial success, they seek a broader consensus. In the 1980’s Reagan faced a divided Republican Party and a fractured and dispirited nation. Concentrating on the prosperity issue and our national prestige, Reagan first brought Republicans together and then independents and even many Democrats. Indeed, so successful was Reagan at bringing people together, that in time he could rely on a group of Reagan Democrats. Few other Presidents have had such success at building consensus let alone are able to claim a voting block from the other party in their name.

e couldn't resist more banker baiting, and he promised that he's determined to see tax rates rise for millions of Americans next year when the Bush rates are set to expire. He also pushed more exports while saying he'll raise taxes on some of our biggest exporters, otherwise known as multinationals that 'ship our jobs overseas.' Mr. Obama believes he can conjure jobs and a durable expansion from the private sector while waging political war on its animal spirits. It can't be done. This reflects a larger problem, which is his belief that economic growth springs mainly from the genius of government." --The Wall Street Journal Staying the Course - WSJ.com http://bit.ly/d2tl5R

 * The American public (by innuendo) for his rapid decline in the polls He has threatened to use “Executive Orders” to bypass Congress if they don’t advance his agenda. Yes, those were warning sirens you heard in your head. Heed them. Forget about whether or not Obama can legally do this. He will do it if he feels it’s the only way to accomplish his goals, and then he’ll challenge us to undo the damage. Bet on it. With his personal failure obvious to everyone but himself, Obama has adopted the Saul Alinsky ”Rules for Radicals” philosophy of “Step on the gas” in pushing forward before we have a chance to get rid of him legally (sobering thought: We have three more years of this sentence with Obama. So how does that “Hope” and “Change” look to you now? A year later, much of that public has awakened from their stupor to realize just what America would be like under Obama’s dream/nightmare. Gradually, America woke to find an extreme radical

What's Next For The Tea Party Movement?
merrie
by merrie  2-1-2010    1
A few Tea Party purists didn't want to support Brown, seeing him as insufficiently pure. But the vast majority made the entirely pragmatic determination that Brown, whatever his flaws, was vastly better than his Democratic opponent Martha Coakley, and just the guy to stop Obamacare in its tracks if elected. They poured in donations and volunteers (millions of dollars and thousands of people), and helped Brown win, and were immediately proven right as Brown's victory did, in fact, derail Obamacare and produce a general Democratic flight from the whole hope and change agenda. The Republican and Democratic hacks who were supposed to be worrying about this sort of thing, meanwhile, were asleep at the switch. Republican Party support to Brown was late in coming, appearing only after the Tea Party support raised his profile. Democrats were even slower to recognize the threat and react, and their reaction -- a last-minute visit by President Obama --

And what will these “interns” be force-fed? The mother’s milk of the left — anti-war agitation, anti-capitalism, Marx, Lenin, Ayers, LGBT agenda promotion, global warming, pro-jihad, and illegal immigration. For starters. Maybe “Ellie Light,” who has in the last few weeks published the same Letter to the Editor supporting and defending Obama in over a dozen newspapers across the country, can give lessons in astroturfing. The form carries a recommended reading list, including Rules for Radicals by the notorious hard left community organizer and Obama mentor Saul Alinsky; two Huffington Post articles by Zack Exley, “The New Organizers” and “Obama Field Organizers Plot a Miracle.” The first of those, published in October 2008, enthuses about “an insurgent generation of organizers” inside the Obama campaign that has, “almost without anyone noticing … built the Progressive movement a brand new and potentially durable people’s organization, in a dozen states, rooted at the neighborhood

Lexington And Concord Revisited - The Brown Upset and What It Means
merrie

You can expect to see this president trash talking quite outrageously when it comes to this years' State of the Union speech, due out January 27th. I could almost write a critique of the coming speech in advance. Obama will blame George W. Bush, of course. That tired tune still resonates with the true believers although recent numbers suggest that it isn't anything like the hit song it was a year ago. He will blame 'obstructionists' the Republicans and 'the old politics as usual' for his mishaps. And expect him to do the class war dance, blaming 'the banks', 'Wall Street' 'big insurers' and 'the special interests' for everything he can't lay at Bush's feet. I wouldn't even be surprised to hear him make a call for fiscal responsibility...after he and the Democrats quadrupled the nation's debt like an out-of control teen at the mall armed with daddy's credit card.

Legalisiert den Wettbewerb von Währungen!
