POPS Afghan War Units Begin Two New Efforts The moves underline the military's efforts to remake itself in response to the Afghan war despite the Obama administration's signals that it is far from committed to the current counterinsurgency approach. President Barack Obama met with Defense Secretary Robert Gates Monday as part of the ongoing White House review of Afghanistan policy, which is being re-evaluated in light of the country's flawed presidential elections and the Taliban's recent gains. A senior military official acknowledged that the Afghan Hands initiative, the most important of the new efforts, could be modified or scaled back if the White House decides on a new strategy. "None of this is inflexible or set in stone," the official said. The strategic review comes amid worsening violence across Afghanistan. At least 16 U.S. troops have already been killed in October, matching the entire American death toll for October 2008. Mr. Gates, speaking to an Army gathering on Monday . . .

POPSMahmoud Ahmadinejad's Jewish Roots Revealed: "Heil Sabourjian!"
The phenomenon of Jews denouncing other Jews and being their own worst critics (and I do mean worst) is a well known one, in history down to the present day -- whether it's those who profess to still identify with the faith, as with some members of Jewish Voice for Peace (most have long since substituted Marxism for their religion and simply live off genetics), those whose parents converted (as with Marx), or those who converted out themselves and now prove their bona fides by trashing their former co-religionists. One thing's for sure, this is just more proof that there's something about those Jews -- always prime movers on every side of world-historical events and movements. In fact, maybe that's it! Ahmadinejad (nee Sabourjian) is just a ZIonist under deep cover, agitating for a war to bring about Iran's ultimate defeat and the massive expansion of Greater Israel's borders. Think about it, fever swampers. The title of course refers to the fact that Adolf Hitler's . . .

POPSReflections on the ACORN Story: By Michael Barone Senior Political Analyst 9.18 I don’t think supporting ACORN is going to be a strong positive issue for Larsen in Skagit and Whatcom Counties. But back to ACORN. What stuns me is that, for all my knowledge of ACORN employees’ illegal behavior, it never would have occurred to me that so many of them would blithely collaborate in encouraging prostitution"and child prostitution at that! One ACORN defender said, in effect, well, that’s what you get when you hire low-income people; but I refuse to believe that that’s standard operating procedure even in the most disadvantaged of demographics. What is it about the culture of ACORN that makes collaboration in prostitution standard operating procedure? No wonder that 67% of voters have an unfavorable view of ACORN, according to pollster Scott Rasmussen. One wonders about the 15% who have positive views"an even lower percentage than the 17% of House members who voted against defunding ACORN.

POPSAnd You Thought This Was All About Health Care… by Doug O'Brien
and to begin to collect on its political debt. Hot on the heels of the inauguration labor sought to cash its first big check and push the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) through Congress to eliminate the secret ballot for union organizing elections and allow strong arm tactics to “recruit” new members by putting a card in front of them and politely asking them to sign it. Poll numbers consistently showed strong opposition among the public to this idea and the administration quickly realized they couldn’t cover this check. But there are always new ways to achieve your objectives when the President is your loyal supplicant. The Service Employees International Union provided an estimated $160 million to the Obama campaign and related political advocacy groups and put thousands of its paid organizers on the streets to stump for Democrats. SEIU’s top recruiting priority is unionizing hundreds of thousands of health care workers across the nation. What better way to get .

POPSACORN Teams Up With ACLU to Throw Out Penn Voter Law The statute says, "A person may not give, solicit or accept payment or financial incentive to obtain voter registration if the payment or incentive is based upon the number of registrations or applications obtained." During the voter drive, ACORN set quotas for workers that ended up seeing that quotes were met by creating fake voter registration cards. ACORN and the ACLU, it seems, couldn't care less about the integrity of elections and the legality of voter registrations. One thing that this ACLU lawsuit seems to prove, however, is that ACORN admits its guilt in the matter. If it were not guilty of falsifying thousands of Pennsylvania voter registration cards, why then would it need to get rid of the statute in question? ACORN is... issuing an admission of guilt. ACORN knows it perpetrated vote fraud and now wants to go back and change the law to paper over its guilt.

POPSThe "Birthers" still avoid reality You can see Obama's perfectly valid birth certificate at http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html and see that the REPUBLICAN governor of Hawaii confirmed that Obama was born in Hawaii. There are also copies of Obama's birth notices from local paper archives. If you still don't think Obama is a legally valid President, then you're just monumentally stupid, and there's no hope for you. Might was well blow your brains out (what few brains you do have, that is), because you are a waste of oxygen.

POPS$5,000.00 Fine: Michele Bachmann Refuses To Fill Out 2010 Census Due To ACORN Involvement Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann told the Washington Times that she and her family will not be fully filling out the 2010 census forms. Bachmann, a Republican, said her family will only be indicating the number of people in the household, because “the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.” Bachmann believes the upcoming census to be “very intricate” and “very personal” and expresses concerns about ACORN’s involvement in the data collection. The community organizing program came under scrunity after charges of voter registration fraud during the 2008 presidential elections. Bachmann has claimed the $8.5 billion available multiple times, but it should be noted that the St. Petersburg Times’ affiliated fact check Web site, Politifact.com, disputes its accuracy. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Bachmann may be in trouble if she fails to fill out the entire census.

POPSMust be a conspiracy against ACORN Among those testifying before Ricciardi was Denise Halliburton, a county Elections Division employee, who testified an ACORN canvasser approached her at a shopping mall. Halliburton said she filled out an application but deliberately didn't sign it. "I wanted to see if they would put a forgery," she said. Later, Halliburton said, she learned from a co-worker that someone submitted the application and forged her signature. She could not, however, identify the ACORN worker who approached her. Givner, who is charged with forging that signature and faces a trial on that charge, did not testify. According to court records, Givner told investigators ACORN fired her because she did not meet her assigned quota of 22 daily voter registrations.

POPS Patterns of Force * The language used in the announcement has creepy echoes of every rationalization used by the government to take away human rights (free speech in this case.) These are “extraordinary circumstances,” and for the good of the nation, we can’t allow any speech that would threaten economic recovery; it’s like when the Iranian mullahs shut down the opposition press, or Hugo Chavez shut down the only remaining opposition television station. (And the American left cheered!) And we are only four months into this Chicago thug’s regime. What more is to come?

POPSNew Charges Filed Against ACORN As Barney Frank Pushes Amendment Bachman’s prohibition would apply only to the proposed mortgage reform legislation, and would not change ACORN’s ability to receive funds under either the stimulus program or 2010 budget. Frank, who is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said his panel’s approval last week of Bachmann’s provision was a mistake. “I did not read it carefully, and it was in the last minute that the amendment was accepted,” Frank said. “It is a deeply flawed amendment and I am opposed to it. Banning people from possible participation in government programs based on an indictment is a violation of the basic principles of due process.” The Frank’s amendment would allow non-profits that have been indicted to still receive federal grant money under the pending mortgage bill so long as they have not been convicted. ACORN is now under investigation for vote fraud in at least 12 different states.

POPSReinventing Reagan? All the 2008 Republican presidential candidates (except perhaps Ron Paul) tried to claim a Reagan legacy. John McCain said Reagan was one of his heroes. This is hardly surprising, since Reagan was unquestionably a great vote getter; he won two elections for governor of California and two for president, and not one of them was close. California's governor Reagan stood mainly for "tear gas and police." Anyone else remember this? According to his former chief of staff, many presidential activities were strongly affected by the advice of his wife's astrologer. A president should be judged not by his personal life or his "passionate convictions," but by what his administration actually does. His legacy includes: big tax cuts for the rich and record budget deficits, he tripled the national debt, distorted the Russian threat, and pushed for a “winnable” nuclear war that would “only” cost a few million US lives.

POPSPowerMax - We've been duped by wall street The elections of 2008 shone a bright light on the central political debate in this country: liberalism vs. conservatism. But while our country was engaged in a widening polarization of political beliefs, the true debate should have been, and should be, directed at something completely different.

POPSPsychohistory? "Unlike betting in Las Vegas, the Iowa Electronic Markets are not designed to make money for the market operators," Amaral says. "They are designed to use the wisdom of the crowds to find out what most likely will happen by aggregating the information possessed by a large number of people. This approach extends beyond politics -- prediction markets like this one exist for everything from scientific breakthroughs to box-office profits. "These studies are important because if people have some belief that these prediction markets are doing a good job, then they will pay attention to what is going on with them,"
