..... and Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s website announced that the wartime prime minister’s nephew was one of those who had been killed. Seyyed Ali Habibi Mousavi Khamene, Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s nephew was shot by a bullet yesterday near Azadi avenue and passed away after being taken to Ibn-Sina hospital. Mehdi Farhadinia, Mohammad Ali Rasekhinia, Amir Arshadi and Shahram Faraji were the other four dead protesters. Officials prevented the bodies of these martyrs from being delivered to their families. One source close to Mir-Hossein Mousavi told Rooz that despite the presence of Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Ali Habibi Mousavi’s parents at Ibn-Sina hospital, Ali Habibi Musavi Khamene’s body was not given to his family but was instead delivered to the coroner’s office. After news of the death of Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s nephew broke out, a large number of people marched toward the hospital. That reported plan came after the Obama administration tried first to move the suspected terrorists to Fort Leavenworth in Kansas, and then to a prison in Michigan. On Jan. 28, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, then the governor of Kansas, wrote Secretary of Defense Gates to protest the transport.

Actually, the founding fathers believed one of our biggest enemies would rise from within: apathetic ignorance. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” One hundred and forty-five years later, President Eisenhower echoed Jefferson’s fear when he left office in 1961: In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. POPS20 GOP Senators Call for Investigation of Offutt Threat Let’s be clear: the people spreading these falsehoods think nothing is wrong with a system under which families and businesses continue to bear the brunt of skyrocketing costs, insurance companies are allowed to discriminate and drop at will, and thousands of Americans lose their coverage every single day.” They protest a little too much. I do not know this story is "absolutely false." To the contrary, I'm confident it's true. Twenty senators are now calling for an investigation, and each is presumably pretty well sourced in the Senate. If the charges are "absolutely false," maybe the White House will encourage Senate Democrats to call this Republican bluff. I won't hold my breath. What is absolutely true is that the threat itself is clumsy. The Base Realignment and Closure Process won't get started again for a couple of years, and Offutt is a nearly irreplaceable piece of America's national security infrastructure.
