POPSThe Goliath Birdeater Spider - The Goliath Birdeater, like many tarantulas, can also release its hairs, which are barbed. These can cause severe discomfort and irritation when they make contact with bare skin, or when they are inhaled.

POPSDesigners Square Off: Sexy vs. Classy Despite the number of foreign-born designers showing in New York, they manage to produce little variation in the prototypical woman: she’s either good or she’s bad. Jason Wu, who became famous overnight for his white inaugural gown for Michelle Obama, placed little tiaras on his models, their hair center-parted and their cheeks rosy. His women are resolutely good, with taste — rather than sex appeal — reflected in the checked wool jackets, a lapis blue sheath scattered with French knots, and a gray microcheck cashmere dress with black embroidered cap sleeves.

POPSChildren’s Letters to George W. Bush Dear President Bush, There are too many states. I have to memorize all of them AND their stupid capitals (even Bismarck) and it’s too hard! Please get rid of some of them before I fail geography. Why not start with North Dakota? It’s small and cold and its state animal is a gopher. Nobody likes gophers.

POPSRunning The Numbers, by Chris Jordan I loved to discover this, since I find them to be quite amazing. This really puts many things in perspective. This are large prints (Skull with Cigarette is 72 by 38 inches, Building Blocks is 16 by 32 feet tall) to better appreciate it. Each picture is a gradual zoom of the actual print; the last one shows it at actual size.
