POPSHow To Control Life; Control Carbon
Former EU Environment Minister Margot Wallstrom said, "Kyoto is about the economy, about leveling the playing field for big businesses worldwide." Canadian Prime Minster Stephen Harper once dismissed U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol as a "socialist scheme." (http://bit.ly/81iMvl) In addition, calls for a global carbon tax have been urged at recent U.N. global warming conferences . In December 2007, the U.N. climate conference in Bali urged the adoption of a global carbon tax that would represent "a global burden sharing system, fair, with solidarity, and legally binding to all nations." (http://bit.ly/5fNMQ5) "A climate change response must have at its heart a redistribution of wealth and resources," said Emma Brindal, a climate justice campaigner coordinator for Friends of the Earth. The Obama administration revealed even more controls in September 2009 when it was announced that the State Department wanted to form a global "Ecological Board of Directors." (http://bit.ly/8hbI4D)

POPSAsylum for those who push GM food and us from them GM food sounds so attractive until you think about this: Is Monsanto, Bayer, or whomever big corp thinking first about 1. their profit; 2. people's health; 3. dangers to the environment; 4. making crops and farmers more susceptible to crop collapse due to unforeseen or unintended consequences. Who did not vote for #1 as their first priority? What works best for profit is to plant all the same crop - right. What works best for a new insect, fungus, or bacteria - humans plant all the same crop.

POPSGlobal Governance and Cap and Tax Of course its about control and taxing. Its never actually been about controlling the weather. As if any government or self-important bloviator like Algore could do anything about it anyway,

POPSLovelock---The Dark Side of Climate Change: It's Already Too Late Please read the article--it might inform you as to the real seriousness of human civilization being destroyed. My instincts and well- informed brain tell meDr. Lovelock is right....he's been watching this from the beginning,,, After reading his book, "Revenge of Gaia", I wondered how people would react--so far, we have foot-draggin-weak-assed legislation, some watered down non-binding crap from the G-8 countries----it's already too late for PEOPLE to save our selves from a huge die off as Gaia shrugs off the human virus. By the end of this century we may lose several billion of the human species and unfortunately many other flora and fauna due to human greed and ignorance. SERIOUSLY-- we are fuckin' doomed, folks. Read all about it.

POPSBubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble Warns "Friends of The Earth" A cap-and-trade plan would create a huge new market in emissions permits at a time when Wall Street and Washington have their hands full figuring out how to police existing markets. One key element in all the climate proposals floated so far is the use of “offsets,” or the ability to purchase emissions reductions made somewhere else. As Friends of the Earth says in a new report, “Subprime Carbon”: Given the lack of proven mechanisms to govern commodities, it is imprudent to so hastily create the largest derivatives market in the world and foist it upon a new and untested regulatory regime. One possible side effect of the financial-market fallout and concerns about more toxic assets? Growing support for a straight carbon tax, rather than a complicated cap-and-trade plan.

POPS'Green jobs compete for stimulus aid' In a nutshell Colin Peppard is correct. But remember you're dealing with non creative people who look to the past for answers to new problems. Simple fact is history does not always repeat itself and saying "this is the way we've always done it" will be the straw that breaks the camels back.

POPSWarming-Causes-Cooling-Causes-Everything Thousands of climate protesters, some dressed as polar bears, devils or penguins, demanded on Saturday swifter action from the United Nations to combat global warming. Costumes are always a winner. Penguin-suit wearing freak balls always put me in a warm and fuzzy mood. Susann Scherbarth from Friends of the Earth in Germany said, “Stop clowning around, get serious about climate action.” Typical, off-the-rack goofballism. What could be more serious than a devil outfit? Besides, there is something marvelously insane about watching global warming protestors bundled up in winter clothing, screaming things. But wait … it actually gets better with the second article. Apparently, the cooling that’s happening doesn’t mean there isn’t still dangerous warming going on.

POPSNanofood safety proposal 'NOT good enough' Why? because it is DANGEROUS. It does nothing to benefit the consumer, but is a means of increasing profits by extending shelf life and appearance. There is a barrier called the Blood-Brain barrier, where the pores through osmosis will only admit a certain number of chemicals. with small molecular size, and identity. Nanofood elements throw a new invasive potential into the mix generally when there are alternatives that are much more healthy.

POPSSupermarkets Throwing Away 2 Million Tons Of Food A Year We visited a dozen stores over several nights last week to check what was being thrown away and discovered hundreds of pounds worth of food dumped. At a Sainsbury’s superstore next to the Dome in Greenwich, South East London – the chain’s flagship “environmentally-friendly” shop with its own wind turbines – staff said it was standard practice to throw away food before its sell-by date. And they’re not even allowed to take it home. One said: “Someone just stands there and throws it into the skip. We wish we could buy it – but we’re not allowed.” Pointing to meat on the “reduced” shelf, he added: “Come midnight, anything that hasn’t been sold will get taken off the shelf... if it’s out of date it will be logged on the computer, put against our losses, then in the skip.” Four-pint bottles of milk with nine days still to run had been thrown out, along with nine cans of cola with a date stamp of April 2009.
