1 million de Playstation 3 sous Folding@Home

Folding@Home Playstation 3
Sony et l'université de Stanford ont annoncé aujourd'hui que plus d'un million de Playstation 3 ont été enregistrées auprès du service de calculs distribués Folding@Home depuis mars. Ainsi, environ 3000 nouvelles Playstation 3 seraient enregistrées sur le service chaque jour, soit 2 nouvelles unités de calculs Sony chaque minute.
D'après l'équipe Folding@Home, un parc de 10 000 Playstation 3 permettent d'effectuer la même quantité de calculs que 100 000 PC. Grâce à l'arrivée des PS3, Folding@Home a réussi à atteindre une capacité de calculs supérieure au petaflops. A l'heure actuelle, les utilisateurs de Playstation 3 effectuent 74% des travaux Folding@Home.

Pour rappel, le projet Folding@Home est un programme de calculs distribués qui vise à étudier comment se « plient » les protéines.
