FITFLOPS, the sandals that “give you a workout as you walk” are set to be the must-have footwear in Wales this summer, according to shoe shop owners struggling to cope with demand.
Developed by the Centre for Human Performance at London’s South Bank University, the shoes claim to help tone and trim your thighs and calves while you walk.
The makers of the fitflops say they are engineered to absorb shock, lessen joint strain and reduce back pain with a powerful built-in “micro-wobbleboard”, workout-enhancing effect.
“They were very excited to find something that says it can help tone their bums and thighs without them having to go to the gym.
“And at around £36 a pair, they are not an awful lot of money.”
But she warned that she wouldn’t recommend the fitflops as a type of fitness programme in their own right.
“But anything that can help to keep you in shape and looks good too has to be a good thing.”
