In der „Gedenkstätte Deutscher Widerstand“ hatte Oscar-Preisträger Christopher McQuarrie (39, „Die üblichen Verdächtigen“) vor fünf Jahren die Idee, die Geschichte um Hitler-Attentäter Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg zu verfilmen, schrieb daraufhin das Drehbuch für den Cruise-Film. Die Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (Bima) verbot jedoch die dort geplanten Dreharbeiten. „Das ist eine Gedenkstätte, keine Film-Kulisse“, erklärt ein Bima-Sprecher die Entscheidung.
