Q: Michelle of Tosa - Hi Barb, what's the skinny on green tea? Is it good for you? If so, why?
A: Barb Troy - Hi Michelle, Yes, green tea is a great tea choice! This is because green tea has a very interesting phyto (plant) chemical profile, the bulk of which are categorized as flavonoids. It has been observed that populations who regularly drink green tea (about 5 cups/day) have lower risks of chronic diseases such as cancers and heart diseases. We still don't know for sure that green tea is indeed the primary reason for these observed changes in disease pattern, but the food based research continues. So...if you enjoy tea, think green!
