Un nouvel outil permet d’identifier les organisations modifiant des contenus dans l’encyclopédie Wikipédia.
un outil, le WikiScanner, qui permet de voir qui a modifié quoi dans l’encyclopédie Wikipédia. WikiScanner réutilise les données publiques de l’encyclopédie, et a ainsi archivé plus de 34 millions de modifications entre février 2002 et août 2007. Surtout, l’outil a la bonne idée d’identifier les organisations ayant effectué des modifications dans Wikipédia. Pour ce faire, WikiScanner se base sur l’adresse IP,
le lobby américain des armes ajoute que l’Irak est impliqué dans les attentats du 11 septembre ; le FBI retire des images de Guantanamo ; quelqu’un chez Halliburton (la compagnie pétrolière pour laquelle a travaillé le vice-président américain Dick Cheney) édite la page consacrée aux crimes de guerre ; Nintendo supprime des références aux problèmes matériels de ses consoles GameCube et DS ; l’Eglise de Scientologie enlève des critiques. Et ce ne sont que quelques exemples.
