Abdullah Says Desperate Opposition Resorting To Causing Commotion
JERLUN, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today described as an act of desperation the commotion caused by opposition party supporters at a dinner organised by Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters in Lunas near here last night.
He said the opposition parties were disappointed over the lack of support from the people and thus resorted to causing trouble.
"They are desperate and so cause a commotion; that's the opposition for you," he told a news conference after attending a meet-the-people session at the Padang Sera community hall in the Jerlun parliamentary constituency.
Last night, riot police had to disperse more than 1,000 opposition party supporters who caused a commotion while BN supporters were awaiting the arrival of MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu to attend a dinner.
