POPSIf you can't play- outsource it. In fact, the trading of virtual property is so lucrative that some big online gaming companies have jumped into the business, creating their own online marketplaces. Other start-up companies are also rushing in, acting as international brokers to match buyers and sellers in different countries, and contracting out business to Chinese gold-farming factories. "We're like a stock exchange. You can buy and sell with us," says Alan Qiu, a founder of the Shanghai-based Ucdao.com. "We farm out the different jobs. Some people say, 'I want to get from Level 1 to 60,' so we find someone to do that."

LET'S CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF! More Bush Administration's HANDIWORK, to make you Sick, REALLY SICK! Under pressure in 2003 and 2004, the White House agreed to dilute record-keeping proposals by FDA safety experts. "If the FDA had been given the resources and authority years ago that it asked for to solve these kinds of problems, I think we would have solved this already," said W. Hubbard, a former FDA associate commissioner. Tommy Thompson, who was health secretary during the industry's lobbying campaign, acknowledged that a more robust food-tracking system — opposed by business groups as too expensive — could have helped stem the current illnesses More Here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080725/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/salmonella_lobbying --- Hey Folks, we're sitting ducks to Big Business desires... POPSGeneral Obama Calls For Shift Of U.S. Forces To Afghanistan Obama, who has made his opposition to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq five years ago a centerpiece of his campaign, was in Baghdad to assess security in Iraq, where violence has fallen to its lowest level since early 2004. Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said Obama did not mention his pledge to remove U.S. combat troops within 16 months if he takes office in talks with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. But in comments suggesting Iraq and Obama are not far apart on the timeframe, Dabbagh said Baghdad's goal was for foreign combat forces to leave by the end of 2010 if security conditions allowed. Dabbagh has floated a similar timeframe before. "We cannot give any timetables or dates but the Iraqi government believes the end of 2010 is the appropriate time for the withdrawal of the forces," Dabbagh told reporters. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080721/pl_nm/iraq_dc

POPSSpider helps track disease outbreaks A 'Spider' being "The Web-walking part of a search engine that collects pages for indexing in the search engine's database. Also called a bot.":answers.com I thought I'd better put that in, because when I first saw the title, I had visions of biologists, out in the wild, catching spiders to be tested for disease. Now if you want to find out about disease outbreaks, you can just google them before the WHO Centres of disease control have any idea. Maybe WHO should google not yahoo.

POPSA turning wheel "The Senate is unlikely to act in any way to block the Google/Yahoo deal, but it does have the ability to influence public perception, which can affect the response of regulatory agencies like the Federal Trade Commission. As such, the testimony was largely a platform for Microsoft to highlight aspects of the deal that should leave regulators troubled, while Yahoo and Google got the chance to push regulators to let the agreement sail through without restrictions. Based on these goals, it didn't appear that either side landed a knockout blow, but the circus isn't over yet."
