POPSMcCain Caught in Hypocrisy-Fest I'm so glad Rachel's on the TV machine now. I'm sure I'm missing a hypocrisy here, but we've got: McCain hanging with the hated lobbyist. McCain hanging with the hated celebrity. McCain being all elitist on a yacht in Montenegro. I'll bet they served arugula and lattes.

POPS The 26th Of July Movement Cubans to fight in the Cuban revolution for the overthrow of Batista. During that period, Castro also met Ernesto "Che" Guevara, who joined their forces. They were trained by Alberto Bayo, a former military leader of the failed "loyalists" in the Spanish Civil War. The group trained in Mexico under the leadership of Fidel Castro and returned to Cuba in November 1956, on a small yacht named Granma. They hoped their landing in Eastern Cuba would coincide with planned uprisings in the cities and a general strike, coordinated by the llano wing of the 26th of July Movement. It was their intention to launch an armed offensive and swiftly topple the Batista government. There was another group of revolutionaries, who carried out the most dramatic act of the Revolution since the Moncada Barracks attack of 1953. This second group of revolutionaries were members of the decidedly anticommunist, Student Revolutionary Directorate (RD; Directorio Revolucionario)

POPSIt's not easy being a billionaire I suspect there is no such thing as having enough money. In fact, many of the super-rich agree that the more you have the more you worry about it. Their stories emerge in a great book, "Richistan," by Robert Frank.

POPSHow big is too big? Mr Melling has even considered having his pride and joy airlifted out of his garden, and said he always knew he was going to face this problem."It's not as though I'm some idiot who got the measurements wrong and is now stuck with a boat he can't move," he said."I knew from the start that once the boat was finished I would face some problems getting it out of the garden." Bemused neighbours have only just realised Mr Melling has been building the massive, lightweight yacht in his garden.Strong winds several weeks ago blew off the polytunnel cover which had previously concealed the yacht from passers by.<<

POPSKennedy Dumped Diesel Fuel Into Nantucket Sound CCToday writes: The top photo is grainy because it was taken from a quarter-mile away and blown up. The lower one of the diesel fuel in the water at the stern of Mya is a close-up. When told that he was moored in coastal waters near shellfish beds and people swimming, the man replied, "whatever." F. Scott Fitzgerald's character Gatsby was right when he said, "the rich are different than you and I."

POPSPorsche Designed Yacht Should 28 feet (and room for five) prove insufficient for your entourage, Porsche and Fearless are expanding the line to include vessels of up to 150 feet in length, and while the prices may be steep—the 28 starts at $300,000—they have this advantage: They manage to make a 911 look like a bargain.

POPSMcCain: rides company jet, pressures FCC for action Paxson, a media company, tries to buy a media outlet in Pittsburgh, but it gets hung up at FCC. Gives McCain rides on the corporate jet to campaign events. McCain pressures FCC to act; McCain, apparently, sees no wrong in it. FCC chair: "highly unusual."

POPSThe next time you fork it over at the pump remember the $40.6 billion Exxon got It’s a simple fact of life. Oil companies need huge profits to counter the insane wishes of the citizenry like alternative energy, universal health care, demcoracy and human rights. The current system in which the government taxes the middle class (and a token tax from the wealthy) to give back to the rich via no-bid military contracts and Homeland Security is under attack by grass root movements and radical authors. Democracy is a terrible thing for corporate profits and that’s why corporate America supports the most ruthless dictatorships in the world. Show your support for a corporate world by buying a gas guzzling SUV or still better… a motor yacht! Buy, buy, buy anything you can before our resources run out and finally be a good corporate citizen

POPS Congressional and Leftist Lies According to The Harris Poll taken in June 2003, 51 percent of Democrats thought the tax cuts enacted by Congress were a bad thing while 16 percent of Republicans thought so. Among Democrats, 67 percent thought the tax cuts were unfair while 32 percent of Republicans thought so. When asked whether the $350 billion tax cut package will help your family finances, 59 percent of those surveyed said no and 35 percent said yes. Whether you're for or against President Bush matters little, but what do you think of politicians and their media dupes winning you over with lies about the rich not paying their fair share? And, by the way, $145,000 or even $345,000 a year hardly qualifies one as rich. It's not even yacht money. Walter E. Williams is a professor of economics at George Mason University.

POPSThe Accidental Whore Next Door Must read in entirety if you have a sense of humor. This made my day as a forty year old man who just had two mammograms and a day in ER. Not for the easily offended fanatics.
