POPSCome Fry With Me: Mark Steyn Wow. 443,243 miles. How many flying polar bears does Dr. Pachauri kill in an average quarter? Well, not to worry, he probably offsets his record-breaking ursocide with carbon credits from carbon billionaire Al Gore. And in any case it's okay to devastate the planet on IPCC business " plus the occasional cricket match: So strong is his love for cricket that his colleagues recall the time the Nobel winner took a break during a seminar in New York and flew in to Delhi over the weekend to attend a practice session for a match before flying back. Again, he flew in for a day, just to play that match. And why not? Aside from a slight increase in the risk of polar bears dropping from the skies onto stray Indian bowlers and wicket-keepers, where's the harm? P.S. I like the headline on Dr. Pachauri's climate'n'cricket story: "Heat On Cricket Pitch Warms This Climate Change Laureate."

POPSThere were two royal children (German volkslied) She took him into her arms And kissed his lips so red Oh lips could you only speak So my young heart could be healed So my young heart could be healed. She wrapped her coat around her and jumped into the lake so green Good night my father and mother Never shall you see me again Never shall you see me again. The bells were tolling There was sorrow and pain for there lay two kings-children but both were oh so dead but both were oh so dead. POPSXP Starter Edition...Give Me Some Of That! Mary correctly points out that Microsoft is in a bit of a sticky wicket: either it shuts itself out of this market by preventing manufacturers of non-Vista capable hardware from distributing Windows XP, limits users to a stripped down version of an aging OS and/or gives XP another stay of execution. For those of us in Ed Tech eagerly awaiting a new crop of Atom-based cheap laptops, as well as the 2nd generation Intel Classmate making its way to mature markets, it’s certainly time to look elsewhere if Microsoft’s only offering will be XP Starter Edition.

POPSCricket for Dummies Both cricket and baseball operate on the same principles. Someone hurling the ball—the pitcher in baseball, the bowler in cricket—is attempting to defeat an opponent wielding a bat to defend a target—the invisible strike zone or the visible wicket—and score runs.
