Great Moments in The Obama Presidency - Caterpillar Edition
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  3-18-2009
Did Obama lie about those Caterpiller job increases or was he mistaken? The Left didn't make those distinctions during the Bush Administration, so perhaps we shouldn't either. However, given how incompetent Obama seems to be and how little he knows about business, it does seem possible that he just didn't understand what Owens was saying when they talked about jobs. So, perhaps we should give him the benefit of the doubt and just assume that as per usual, he had no idea what he was talking about.

Obama Victory: People Around the World Celebrate
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-5-2008
It adds to our joy and excitement to hear and see some people from around the globe celebrating Barack Obama's victory. His victory says so much about what most Americans want their country to be: Not that Obama was black, BTW, but that his being black made no difference. That America is truly a land of equality and opportunity that most of us want it to be...a core, a central idea from the very first words that began our nation: "...that all men were created equal." Of course, all major Western nations that existed at that time had slavery, had restrictions on woman...so it took time to work all those bad things out. (Freeing slaves, BTW, was in America's first document: The Declaration of Independence, but it was deleted when the majority at that time would not vote for it) We're happy that others in other countries can see and feel what this means for us....and also what it means for them: The nightmare of the last eight years is over. Amen.

I trust even now Maureen Dowd is working on a hilarious new column mocking proposed names for the Governor's first grandchild. Perhaps Richard Cohen can just take the week off and they can rerun his insightful analysis comparing the Palin nomination to Caligula making his horse a consul. Whereas we sophisticates all know that if McCain were as smart as Obama he'd have nominated a dead horse to be his consul. No wait...

Switching it up: How memory deals with a change in plans
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  8-18-2008    3
The answer is "both," according to researchers at The Johns Hopkins University, who have learned that two different areas of the brain are responsible for the way human beings handle complex sets of "if-then" rules. "This discovery may eventually lead to enhanced understanding of psychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and attention deficit disorder, all conditions in which a person's ability to remember and change such rules is impaired," "This indicates that different parts of our brains store different kinds of memories and information," Courtney said. That, she said, "provides clues about how the human brain accomplishes complex, goal-directed behaviors that require remembering and changing abstract rules, an ability that is disrupted in many mental illnesses."

Anyone on The Left Approve of This?
bmeuppls
by bmeuppls  8-18-2008    2
Cont... by mucking up my comments section with posts that said nothing, but all used the same in-joke pseudonym. Next, the tiny little thugs started putting up comments in my name and regular commenters's names, even using the word "nigger" in one of those posts -- as if that commenter had said it. That's straight defamation, and completely disgusting. Finally, after I started deleting comments that were clearly from people sent over here to be part of a mob to punish me for speech unapproved by the liberalocracy, the tiny thugs started posting huge spam posts like the one above -- also in my name -- from proxy servers in Germany, etc. So, in favor of your fellow travelers, or not?

From Across the Pond - Step forward George Bush
cptenaud
by cptenaud  6-11-2008    5
From Blog: And who will be joining in the call: leading voices in the worlds of the arts and politics, including the novelist Iain Banks, the artist David Gentleman and the human rights campaigner Bianca Jagger, have now joined forces to call for Mr Bush to face a war crimes trial in the Hague. Wonder how the Brits will handle the security and where they will force their citizens to assemble. Labour Against the War Anti-war protest planned for Bush visit to London Stop the War Coalition (STWC) described Bush as a "war criminal" and said the protest will be held outside the British parliament on June 15. And a Happy Fathers Day jr. bush, by the way, why isn't your new son-in-law in a military uniform!

Thou And Thou Only
debbyski
by debbyski  3-15-2008    16
Well, first there is denial. You gotta get them well. Then there is anger. Why me? I didn't sign up for this; well, whoops, actually I did. THEN, comes the guilt. Like the guilt of wanting to do things together like you used to when your spouse was well. The guilt of having feelings that you have to close down like feeling sorry for your God damned well ass. But they forget to mention the shame. You are in another closet of sorts, pretending to everyone that everything is ok so people don't feel "sorry" for you in their smug superiority of comparing your life which sucks to their oh so much better one. And of course the fear and isolation, even though you are around ppl all the time; it never goes away. Sexual fears slowly become your reality. Ah, and then comes acceptance. Oh wait, maybe your spouse will get better? As you can see, dear readers, I'm not there quite yet.
