POPSWhy a Semantic Web Will Be Smarter, Faster & All-Around Better In order to take it to the next level, and move from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0—the information in documents will have to be turned into data that machines can read and evaluate autonomously. Only then will computers be able to take over tasks we now have to do ourselves, such as find the nearest restaurant, book the best flight, or buy the cheapest video game.

POPSAdult Social Network Zivity Will Fail ... Miserably Web 3.0 Startup Checklist: 1. New Take on a Social Network: CHECK 2. Built With Uber Cool Rails: CHECK 3. Investment from Rich Web 1.0 Moguls: CHECK 4. Crazy Ass Business Model: CHECK The idea for Zivity is good, but the execution is not in line with the market, and I know a little something about the pron market. I mean who doesn't? According to VB, they want the photos to be "fine erotica" submitted by hot people where paid subscribers vote and follow these local hotty attention whores. Hmmm sounds a lot like MySpace ... which is free ... and prob has 1000 times more local hotties to stalk than Zivity has. Where do I sign up? Oh that's right I can't (it's in private beta) Pron is free all over the mighty Interweb. There are free social networks, free attention whores, free fine erotica photos and free adult blogs to keep everyone more than satisfied.

POPSFirefox 3.0 RC1 Released, With A Sneaky Change
It would seem that if you don’t want Firefox 3.0 to be your default browser then you will need to keep your eyes peeled during the install process or fire up your browser of choice and let it reset itself back as the default, as most are wont to do. * Improvements to the user interface based on user feedback, including changes to the look and feel on Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS X and Linux. * Changes and fixes for new features such as the location bar autocomplete, bookmark backup and restore, full page zoom, and others, based on feedback from our community. * Fixes and improvements to platform features to improve security, web compatibility and stability. * Continued performance improvements: changes to our JavaScript engine as well as profile guided optimization continues to improve performance over previous releases as measured by the popular SunSpider test from Apple, and in the speed of web applications like Google Mail and Zoho Office.

POPSIs Web 3.0 all about aggregation? Clipmarks is! Now here's something we know a thing or two about :). The thing they don't realize is that the true power is in enabling everyone to aggregate and filter the news and information for each other. It's not something that the major media companies need to do for us...we're doing it already! But then again, we all know that already don't we ;)

POPSThe Spread of Ideologies: ClipCast v. The Rise of Bengali Islam Although I've always enjoyed using clipmarks as a tool to research social trends and ideologies, with Clipcast, Clipmarks is rapidly becoming a subject worthy of such research itself. Consider this: The effect of making Clipmarks (and it's community of ardent followers) mobile, and capable of organizing in more than one internet context is remarkably similar to the way in which Islam spread over much of South and South Eastern Asia. For those who are interested, I heartily suggest reading Richard Eaton's "The Rise of Islam on the Bengal Frontier." I've clipped its thesis here. It is one of the most interesting and insightfully approaches to understanding the interaction between social and ideological groups. It goes well beyond the coarse but popular theories of war and mercantilism in explaining the reason for Islamic success in a part of the world that America has failed miserably at influencing.

POPSClipcasts & The Shape of the Net to Come It's amazing how the press out there, and most of the public, seems to have missed the big picture of what's going on here. They think this is about social networking and internet advertising. They are dead wrong. We're all involved in a much bigger game now, and the pieces are the very building blocks of society's future. I've clipped a few of the puzzle pieces together to make my point: 1. Cold War: Open v. Closed software ...leads to... 2. Show down between Cloud computing vs. PC software ...meanwhile... 3. Microsoft (PC OS) muscles in on Facebook (Internet Platform for Web Apps.) ...and on the other side... 4. Google (the world's leading search engine) muscles in on Firefox (the world's leading alternative web browser.) ...and then... 5.) Clipmarks, total wild card, leapfrogs over facebook into decentralized internet platforms with Clipcasts! Something VERY VERY BIG is afoot!
