POPSKucinich: Why I voted NO I'm so torn. I think we should have fought harder for a single-payer bill, even though I know that would have been a much harder battle. But I don't think that voting no on this was the solution, either. As much as I would like BIG CHANGE, I know that can't happen in one fell swoop. Baby steps, unfortunately, will get us to that final goal. Hopefully, the public will realize, soon, that we need single payer!

POPSHouse passes health care reform bill! This is our first victory of historical significance. We did it! It will be much less injustice and suffering in the society, where taking advantage off weak and defenseless is not viewing as breaking the right of every human for decent existence.

POPSMark Levin (Rally Video)It’s On and IT’S MASSIVE– “Kill the Bill Rally” In DC! … As a crowd of protesters shouted “kill the bill,” House Republicans on Thursday rallied opposition against the Democrats’ health care legislation, decrying the bill on the steps of Congress in a last-ditch bid to derail or at least delay the legislation heading toward a possible vote Saturday. Thousands of protesters arrived by bus for the rally, which the GOP is calling an emergency “House Call.” The event drew the conservative “tea party” activists but unlike past rallies was officially sanctioned by House Republicans. Republicans want those who attend to track down their elected representatives in Congress and put pressure on them to think twice about voting for the more than $1 trillion health care overhaul pushed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “They’re going to listen,” said Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., who originally called for the rally. “The biggest voice in the United States is your voice.”

POPSWhat is it with liberals and sexual slurs? Problems with this article (other than the sexual slurs). The assumption that the tea party movement is a wing of the republican party when they are just as disgusted with big government republicans as they are with big government democrats. She called Scozzafava a moderate. She, like other party loyalists, assumed it would be better for republicans to win with a liberal candidate than lose with a conservative. It's time people stop voting for letters following someone's name and vote for the candidate closest to their own beliefs. It isn't a two party system when both parties are on the same side. The fact that Scozzafava endorsed the democrat was proof that conservatives were right and she was the wrong person for the job. Scozzafava winning would have been just as big a loss for conservatives as Owens winning.

POPSWhat Obama Is Up Against This article makes some very good points regarding hte limitations of Presidential authority. If we want what we voted for,we have to continually work for it. The U.S. is in this current situation because "We the People" have neglected our duties as citizens to keep ourselves informed, oversee our representatives by making damn sure that they know exactly what we want and then follow-up to ensure that they do what is needed. Casting a vote every 2 to 4 years and then ignoring everything that happens in between voting, does not a Democracy make.

POPS GOP Trifecta? But it can be difficult to draw broader conclusions from off-year contests, which often turn on local issues. ************************************************** Revolt in New York Beltway bigs misjudged public dismay against the Democratic agenda in Washington. Picked by GOP elites without a primary and with a voting record to the left of many Albany Democrats, Ms. Scozzafava faced a revolt by local and national conservatives in favor of businessman Doug Hoffman, who was nominated on the Conservative Party line. The longtime GOP assemblywoman saw herself falling in the polls and yesterday endorsed Democratic lawyer Bill Owens, who could still win the GOP-leaning seat with a plurality. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703932904574509633956777194.html?mod=loomia&loomia_si=t0:a16:g2:r4:c0.0565713:b28671837

POPSTop 10 GOP Moderate Moments (via Rush) As I was in the car I switched him on and he was just beginning his countdown. Yes. Either the 'moderates' form their own party or the true conservatives must. I'm tired of voting for the lesser of the 2 evils and violating my true convictions. While these 'moderate' Republicans may be very nice people with good intentions...few actually shared my values. And he's right! The #1 'moderate' revealed so much about himself.

POPS15 Things To Do Right Now! A Call To Action This clip is only 1 of 15. All are simple and not all that time consuming. It really is time to do our jobs as citizens of a democracy. We are the Boss, and if we don't manage our government, there are plenty of people who will, and certainly not in our best interests.

POPSObama plays more golf in 9 mos. than Bush did in 3 years The reason I quit golfing was that it takes too long and detracts from other more important things. A round of golf takes nearly 4 hours. Not to mention driving range practice. Looks like Obama has a lot of time on his hands. Too bad our troops are depending on this bum for speedy decisions. The bum must be voting "present" again. Folks, in 2010 vote ALL the bums out of office. And in 2012 vote this bum and all his Mao-loving colleagues out too!

POPSGaza War Crimes Report Backed by UN Council It would be good if this report helped end the slow starvation of over a million and a half people in the Gaza Strip, due to the Israeli blockade of the past couple of years. (This mentioned in the report).

POPSThis is Racist The Obama administration never ceases to amaze me. So, without a party affiliation tag on a candidate, black voters' are too stupid to vote for who they want. The enemy is in the White House.

POPSTwo Sisters Out to Change the World – On Motorbikes
♫Now, there was a time when they used to say that behind ev'ry great man, there had to be a great woman. But oh, in these times of change, you know that it's no longer true. So we're comin' out of the kitchen, 'cause there's something we forgot to say to you. We say, Sisters are doin' it for themselves, standin' on their own two feet and ringin' on their own bells. We say, Sisters are doin' it for themselves. Now, this is a song to celebrate the conscious liberation of the female state. Mothers, daughters, and their daughters too, woh yeah, woman to woman, we're singing with you, ooh, ooh. The "inferior sex" has got a new exterior. We got doctors, lawyers, politicians too, ooh ooh ooh, ooh. Ev'rybody, take a look around. Can you see, can you see, can you see, there's a woman right next to youou. We say, Sisters are doin' it for themselves, standin' on their own two feet and ringin' on their own bells. Sisters are doin' it for themselves ♫ -Annie Lennox

POPSIf You Can't Beat Em, Don't Count Them They hope to not only push the undocumented further into the shadows, but erase from the rolls a whole community of people, immigrant or otherwise, who are shaping the largest population shift this country has ever seen. The Republicans are not seeing past the idea that these people are "other" or that they are "foreigners" because if they did, they would realize they have the potential for attracting scores of first generation immigrants, who typically have conservative, Christian ideals and come from center-right countries.

POPSMedia Ignoring Conservatives' Return to Dominance of Political Book Market
In September of that year, the Boston Globe proclaimed liberals "triumphant" against "conservatives' decade long hold on popular culture." Yes, it seemed such wonderful liberal values were finally en vogue. Barnes and Noble, reacting to the outpouring of Bush-bashing literature in August of 2003 announced that it would set up ‘political science/cultural affairs' tables at its stores to feature the newest partisan works. But conservatives have reclaimed their hold on the Times's bestseller page. The closest any of the top 15 hard-cover non-fiction books gets to a defense of liberalism or the Obama Administration is In Fed We Trust by David Wessel "The books from the left strike me as an obvious reaction to Bush," conservative commentator Tucker Carlson told the Associated Press in 2003. "And for people who buy them, it's a way of voting against him in an off-election year." With Bush gone, liberals no longer have a blatant target at whom to direct a coordinated

POPSRepublican Support Hits New Lows.
A rash of polls came out this weekend. Support for the Republican party is at an all-time low. Support for the President is on the rise, back to 56%. Despite the impression we may get from our corrosive and toxic media -- which manufactures conflict and sensationalism -- these polls show a growing disgust at the Republican Party. The Democrats, btw, other than the President, also are losing support. The often unspoken public opinion we never hear about it the majority of Americans don't like Congress at all. Yet, it's the system we were born into and we're stuck with it till we work out ways to improve it (which Congress will strongly resist). Hopefully we'll remain on track to drive the Republican Party into extinction. Voting against bad Democrats in their primary also would be a good idea, imo. Lots of folks have come to focus on this lately...defeat the so-called "Blue Dog Democrats," in their primaries. Just keep working to electing better leaders, one step at a
