POPSHave you seen the ObamaCare bill? Mikulski blocks "Read the Bill" rule Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) used procedural tactics this week to block an amendment offered by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) to require all bills to be posted on the Internet 72 hours before they are considered by the Senate. It is outrageous -- but perhaps not surprising -- that a U.S. Senator would oppose such a modest proposal for transparency. Watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwZz7h6tmFY&feature=channel TAKE ACTION! Contact Sen. Mikulski and tell her you're not happy she opposed the 72-hour "Read the Bill" rule. And please don't let her office tell you the amendment was not germane. The Senate adopts amendments every day that aren't germane and this one was no different. Mikulski's number is (202) 224-4654 and you can email her here. http://mikulski.senate.gov/Contact/contact.cfm

POPS'iTunes university' better than the real thing
Students who downloaded the podcast averaged a C (71 out of 100) on the test - substantially better than those who attended the lecture, who on average mustered only a D (62). But that difference vanished among students who watched the podcast but did not take notes.Students who listened to the podcast one or more times and took notes had an average score of 77, McKinney says. To find out how much students really can learn from podcast lectures alone - mimicking a missed class - McKinney's team presented 64 students with a single lecture on visual perception, from an introductory psychology course. Half of the students attended the class in person and received a printout of the slides from the lecture. The other 32 downloaded a podcast that included audio from the same lecture synchronised with video of the slides. These students also received a printed handout of the material. The researchers told the students they would be tested on the material in a week, and they also asked

POPSMumbai Attacks: "India's 9/11", Who Was Behind It? Must hear this podcast before the official story, and response, take hold. There is great evidence to suspect many other parties besides Paki Islamic extremists in the headlines. Labeling it as "India's 9/11" suggests (and is being suggested by a conservative political wing there) copying the American response to 9/11, making war upon suspect countries or groups without evidence and creating a Homeland Security state and legislation that Indians had recently overturned and rejected. CONTEXT IS EVERYTHING TO UNDERSTANDING THE EVENT, AND TO HELP ESTABLISH MOTIVE AND PERPETRATORS. Excellent round-table with good analysis here , by the first guest in particular, that questions the "9/11 status" (and what that is intended to mean) and who was behind the Mumbai attacks, at Democracy Now video (use this link here) . Fast-forward to the 16:00 minute mark. Terrorism is used to change governments too.

POPSJames Howard Kunstler's "World Made By Hand" [trailer] A novel about peak oil and what it could mean for America's future. While this novel depicts a pretty bad scenario (global war, the end of petroleum shipments to the US, the general collapse of the US), it's actually a quite hopeful book. POPSScott Ritter Rips Obama and McCain on War Policy Powerful refutation of McCain and Obama's assessment of Iran and the "war on terrorism" in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the way it is being portrayed to the public. Democrats in particular should see that Obama and McCain's policies (now) are very close, and not based upon credible threats, much like Iraq. (Ritter is a republican and former Marine and the former UN weapons inspector in Iraq.) If you listen on REAL video or audio his interview begins at the 42:10 mark. This same podcast also includes excerpts from Ron Paul's counter-convention.

POPSPowerful:Democracy Now Interview of McClellan--podcast Must-hear interview. The Bush administration cannot deny the claims from this insider. It is also interesting to hear the questions put to him by some good reporters in the run up to Iraq that the MSM decided not to let us hear! Hard evidence for wrong doing in the administration and he is about to testify before the Judiciary committee on the CIA leak of Plame, by Rove, Libby, and likely orchestrated by Cheney. Also how the White House Iraq Group used the NY Times as their primary propaganda conduit, including Judith Miller. Great podcast (have to listen to other news first before interview).
