In a statement, Boeing said layoff notices will be issued to about 250 employees working in GMD at various locations, including Alabama, Alaska, California and Colorado. as "ass welt journalism" Part of the problem is that journalism terminology glorifies "shoe-leather reporting," whereby you pound the pavement so often you wear out the soles of your shoes. Yet there's no widely used term of approbation for the other kind of reporting. For this very reason, my New Republic colleague Franklin Foer and I decided a few years ago to coin a phrase: ass-welt reporting. I'm not saying that every news story could be reported without leaving one's desk. (Bernstein: "Woodward, look! POPSThe "Madman Theory of the Presidency" Now Lauria is vowing to fight. Thomas Lauria head of the restructuring practice at White & Case, the lead lawyer for the group of holdout lenders that the Obama administration is blaming for pushing Chrysler into Chapter 11. The group, as you know by now, refused to take 33 cents on the dollar for the approximately $1 billion in Chrysler debt they hold. The four biggest bank lenders to Chrysler--all recipients of federal bailout money--took that deal, drawing praise from Obama for their decision. . Specifically, he says the holdout lenders will challenge the planned sale of Chrysler's prime assets to a new company controlled by the auto workers union and Fiat, according to Reuters.
