Oprah and Clooney. Fergie and the Easter bunny.... The economy crumbles while the White House parties their ass off. Ridiculous and embarrassing. And the Democrats say they best represent the common man, Joe Sixpack? Please. The common man is in bankruptcy or being foreclosed on and working day in and day out. The is a bleeping travesty.

POPSShould Kids Recite Flag Code Along With The Pledge Of Allegiance The first Flag Code came during a time of similar national upheaval. In 1942, Congress passed the first resolution to endorse flag etiquette, including the proper way to fold, display and dispose of the flag. Massachusetts entered the debate in 1970, when Leominister teenager Valerie Goguen was sentenced to six months in jail for using an American flag patch on a pair of jeans. The Supreme Court overturned his conviction in the 1974 case Smith v. Goguen. Goguen still lives in Leominster, and is still adamant that the case is about love for the flag.

POPSDurbin Supports Burris Ethics Probe (Burris was 60th vote for Stimulus Bill)
The Illinois Democrat says he wants to be fair and review all of the documents, transcripts and statements involved. Tom Elia questions the timing: Now that it looks almost certain that Illinois Sen. Roland Burris lied under oath about his contacts with impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (and had that perjury covered up by another Chicago Dem for over one week while the vote occurred), one has to wonder why President Obama reversed his position, and put out the word for the US Senate to approve Burris under the dubious Blagojevich-related circumstances. Well, besides the embarrassing circumstances of his former Senate seat being up for sale to highest bidder being in the news, there is the matter of the passage of Obama’s stimulus package in the Senate. Sen. Burris was the 60th vote on the stimulus bill with Sen. Kennedy ailing and not able to vote himself. I wonder if anyone in the press will follow up on this?

POPSQueen of the United States This may be an old clip but we should not forget the arrogance of this woman. You would think she, along with a husband worth an estimated billion dollars, would lease or buy and fly their own plane, or fly first class on commercial airlines like other rich people.

POPSOlympic Flashback: '02 Salt Lake Games Tainted By Scandal, Bribery and Glenn Beck's Church
Almost as soon as Romney took the job, however, the Mormon Church's role in the Games became a source of contention - a dispute exacerbated by Romney's request for an additional $8 million in loaned property and cash from the church, among other contributions. Utah's wealthiest businessman, Jon Huntsman Sr., the father of Utah's current governor, assailed Romney for exploiting his ties to the church. Huntsman himself is prominent in the Mormon Church, which is officially known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. ''We've got a chairman who is active LDS, now we've got a present CEO who is active LDS,'' Huntsman was quoted in the Salt Lake Tribune as saying of Garff and Romney. ''They claim they're going out really scour the world to find the best person, and Mitt brings in one of his cronies to be the COO. Another broken promise. Because we've got three LDS folks who are all cronies. Cronyism at its peak. ..... These are not the Mormon Games.'

POPSThe Shameful Silence of Many Black Ministers
These are the black ministers that conservatives love. many are deeply mired in a single-minded pursuit showy, pricey new buildings, glittering furnishings, inflated salaries, expense accounts, globe-trotting trips, and endless pitches for collections. ... fancy cars, expensive homes, clothes, and jewelry has done more to fan the popular public image of black ministers as fast buck con artists. While some black ministers make a mighty effort to address deep seated social ills and use their influence to be spiritual mentors and social advocates, they are in the minority. black ministers that slump into complacency and inaction, and hopelessly enmeshed in greed and personal aggrandizement have rejected Dr. King's call to take the front line in the battle for social justice. They forget or ignore the entreaty in Luke to "put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalt those of low degree." They have spiritually and socially disarmed many African-Americans.[/quote

POPSBeing blind to love When love is new, we are often very conscious of the things our partner does to express his or her love for us. As the relationship progresses however, and things start to become routine the thrill we feel for our partners start to wane and we start looking for the loving gestures that gave us such a high when our relationships were beginning.

POPS Texts Suggesting Attack Coming; 'Wedding Cake' Is Ready
After first denying any ties to al Qaeda, Zazi has now admitted certain ties developed during trips to Pakistan, law enforcement officials told ABCNews.com. The officials said text messages sent by Zazi suggest the plot was nearing the attack phase. One message said the "wedding cake is ready," which authorities say may have been code to indicate the attack was ready. Al Qaeda operatives have frequently used references to weddings to disguise planned terror attacks. Zazi's lawyer, Arthur Folsom, said his client was cooperating fully with the FBI during his long interrogation sessions. Folsom told ABCNews.com "no deal has been offered," but authorities say Zazi is preparing a "proffer" of information he would be prepared to testify about as part of a plea negotiation. Zazi's computer was copied, or "mirrored," by FBI agents last weekend without Zazi's knowledge. His lawyer said the agents probably made the copy after towing away Zazi's car on an purported parking violation.

POPSMadonna Gandhi visits Calcutta 'Princess Di, me, Princess Di, even Princess Di did it, but I'm not doing it any more. That's why I'm here, doing good for children rather than getting myself in the news for buying another African kid.' Many were impressed by Gandhi's actions, including the Pope, and he had this to say about the Madonna: 'If it wasn't for the Church banning contraception, there would be no African children up for adoption. Luckily Madonna is now doing practical things to help children, rather than taking one or two out of their safe environments, and turning them into a freak show in America.'

POPSal Qaeda's “Jafar the Pilot” Is On The Move Again
There he became friends with José Padilla, who was later arrested as an “enemy combatant,” and also with Mandhai and Shueyb Mossa Jokhan, who were jailed for plotting to blow up Florida power plants, a National Guard armory, and Jewish businesses. Adnan attended flight schools in Florida and Oklahoma, and within al Qaeda was dubbed Jafar al-Tayyar (“Jafar the Pilot”). How Do We Know of The Existence of Adnan? Newly declassified documents, as well as other evidence, make it clear that intelligence was gained during Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s interrogations. His confessions led to the identification of at least three al Qaeda sleeper agents who operated on U.S. soil. They are: Uzair Paracha, Adnan El Shukrijumah and Iyman Faris. A senior CIA intelligence analyst told The Daily Beast that the agency had tracked Adnan “somewhere in late spring to early summer” on several trips in the Middle East. On those travels, he used an alias"which the analyst did not . . .

POPSHere's One You've Probably Never Heard . . . As Stubborn As An Army Camel
Though they required tremendous amounts of water when they drank, they could go days without drinking, hence they could cross the vast distances between water supplies in the desert without dying of thirst. As beasts of burden, they could carry far more than the 300 lbs that was considered a 'mule load.' They were simply ideal for the purpose-making regular routes across the desert Southwest an actuality rather than a remote possibility. Jefferson Davis realized this in 1855 and sent a delegation from the US Army to the Middle East to observe and report on the feasibility of using camels in the American deserts. The officers reported seeing camels being used in every environment from the Sahara to the Alps, carrying loads that would crush even the biggest mules, and making trips between waterholes in deserts that would leave horses and mules dead of thirst. Camels were ideally suited, they reported, for the American Southwest. . .
