POPSCircus goes Prime Time: See the pregnant man Another freak show hits TV. Oprah has normalized the Jerry Springer show. And I thought Freaks and Geeks was canceled from prime time TV. I guess I was wrong. This poor woman, man, trans gender, transsexual, mentally disturbed person needs help not applause. Our society has lots its moorings if this abnormal behavior is considered the new norm. God help us all. I really feel badly for Tracy, who was born a girl and apparently lost her way somewhere in her formative years. We need to pray for this lost soul who apparently hates herself so much that she was willing to mutilate herself in an attempt to find love she so desperately craves. What does society do? They exploit these poor souls for personal gain and aggrandizement. And to think that millions of people watch the "O" show. "O MY" might be more appropriate.

POPSVirginia Churches Fight Over Church Property Keep your eye on this one. What's at stake here is the ability of schismatic congregations (or dioceses) to walk away from their denominations and keep their property, in contravention of canon law. That's no small concern, particularly in high-rent districts like Northern Virginia. If the ruling goes against the denominations, we could see Akinola and his creepy buddies breaking up churches all over the place. I think the law here should be clear: civil courts don't get involved in ecclesial disputes. POPSMaking History: Man Prepares To Give Birth This is completely fascinating to me. Of course, it reminds me of the old Billy Crystal movie, "The Rabbit Test", where Crystal plays a man who becomes pregnant. I haven't seen that movie in years. But, ever since I saw it, I have watched to see if science would ever advance the real idea of men giving birth. Technically, the man in this clip is transgendered, meaning he was born with female reproductive organs, but looks like a man and lives as a male. The discrimination and the bigotry that he has faced through the healthcare system and from his own family is sad and despicable. I will continue to follow this story with some fascination. Mostly because it smacks in the face of everything we have come to know and expect when it comes to the idea of creating a family.

POPSGay 14-year-old shot to death by classmate Interesting that this happens while there's also a debate going on over whether it should be OK to include positive portrayals of same-sex couples in educational materials aimed at this age group. I suppose there are those who'd say that a 14-year-old boy who wears mascara to school deserves whatever he gets, but personally I have some trouble with that position. I suppose there are also those who'd say that there's nothing wrong with allowing 14-year-olds access to firearms, either.

POPS'Yo' is the word when 'he' or 'she' won't do The lack of gender-neutral substitutes for "he"/"she" and "his"/"her" has bothered people for at least two centuries, and "zie" and "hir" are just two of many invented words, including "ter", "ip" and "thon". If such words are not familiar, it is because they - like all attempts to coin a gender-neutral personal pronoun - have failed miserably.
