POPSRochester F5 Tornado: 125 years ago Thanks to the partnership of W.W. Mayo, his two sons, and the sisters of St. Francis, who all cared for the injured afterward, Mayo Clinic would eventually be formed. All because the sky turned black.

POPSChristians dominate in 'American Idol' America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles by those with the intent of securing religious liberty and who fled from England to escape religious persecution. America is a Christian nation. This doesn't surprise me at all. Nice job 'Idol' contestants!

POPSSevere storms leave four dead in Missouri, Kentucky on Friday Glenn Bryan, 68, was watching weather reports on television while taking shelter in the basement of his Pomona, Missouri, home when the power went out. He went upstairs to find a radio just as a tornado came through. Bryan grabbed a door handle "and hunkered down," he told CNN affiliate KYTV. "Couldn't hold on much longer," he said. "I thought I'd be gone to the woods." The back of the house blew away, a tree shattered a large window in front, and his friend's pickup truck flipped upside down, KYTV reported. "I was stupid" for leaving the basement, Bryan told the station, "but I wanted to know where the storm was ... and I found it. I found it."

POPSMinister tells story of his experience in eye of tornado
"Though I had curled myself around the tree, the tornado picked up my legs and extended my body into the wind. I suppose my adrenaline was working properly, because I never lost grip of the tree, even though my body was now off the ground flapping in the wind like a flag. I never thought I’d lose my grip;" "Though I had been in the tornado only 10 seconds or so, it already seemed like a long time. The peaceful feeling quickly dissipated; now I had to ride out the worst. I remember thinking, “almost over; hang on; you’re going to make it!” "Immediately afterward, a second tree fell on me from above. I didn’t see this tree coming. " When it landed, it was on top of my body, and must have hit my head, since later I would discover a deep gash above my left ear. I didn’t feel any pain. " Then, just as quickly as I saw the tornado come over the rise, I saw it cross the river and leave. The back of it looked almost like a curtain; it was distinct."

POPSObama's 'Unprecedented' Onslaught of Domestic, Global Problems Regardless of one's politics, you have to agree that President Obama is facing more of a series of tornado's then whirlwinds. One can already see just how grey his hair is starting to get and the pressure/stress must be just be awful. Yet, he keeps staying, like a fighter being walloped by the giant. Personally, I offer him my prayers and hope that he is given strength, wisdom, and more tenacity than he already has inside to perservere and bring not only this country to a better position, but gain support of world leaders and let the world arrive in balance. A day in his shoes makes my life seem like a day on the beach and my life is pretty crazy itself.

POPSThe Plath Legacy Lives "Sylvia Plath, who killed herself at the age of 30, was one of the great American poets of the 20th century. No other poet in English except Keats, and no American poet, produced so much enduring work in such a brief lifetime. Sylvia understood. She tapped into the place from which arise dreams, mythology, the collective consciousness, and allowed herself to be a conduit for some primordial soup lurking in the deepest recesses of us all. Now her son has killed himself, after a long battle with depression. It’s sad to think that in this time of psychopharmacological and cognitive-behavioral wonders, he was not able to get above his illness."
