POPSA Speech Center of the Monkey Brain Has Been Found! The researchers played recorded coos, grunts, and other vocalizations made by macaques, but also other animals and natural sounds like thunder and running water. A small area of the macaques' temporal lobes turned on only in response to macaque voices, being insensitive to other sounds. The nucleus could differentiate the voices of individual macaques: its activity decreased when the researchers played several times a monkey's voice, but it was boosted by a new played voice.

POPSRepublican Ad Calls Black Women "Ho's" According to the source, the same group was responsible for similar ads in the past that were so derogatory, even the Republican National Committee called them "racist": America's Pac is the brainchild of a Kansas-based Republican consultant, Richard Nadler. He said Sunday that he is no longer affiliated with the group. "Mr. Nadler is the genius. We basically follow his game plan," the group's new chief, Thomas Donelson of Marion, Iowa, said. In 2000, Mr. Nadler came under fire for a school choice-related ad in which parents said their son's violence ridden public school "was a bit more diversity than he could handle." Mr. Bush's campaign denounced the ad as "inappropriate," and the Republican National Committee called it "racist or race-baiting in intent."

POPSMoses Was High on Drugs, Israeli Researcher Says
The description in The Book of Exodus of thunder, lightening and a blaring trumpet, according to Shanon, are the classic imaginings of people under the influence of drugs. As for the vision of the burning bush, well obviously that too was a drug-fueled hallucination, according to Shanon. "In advanced forms of ayahuasca inebriation," he wrote, "the seeing of light is accompanied by profound religious and spiritual feelings." Shanon admits he took some of these drugs while in the Amazon in 1991. "I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations," he said. The initial reaction to this controversial theory from Israel's religiously orthodox community and the powerful rabbis who lead it was less than enthusiastic. Orthodox rabbi Yuval Sherlow, quoted by Reuters speaking on Israel radio, said: "The Bible is trying to convey a very profound event. We have to fear not for the fate of the biblical Moses, but for the fate of science."

POPSLiveleak Threatened And "Fitna" Pulled A blow against free speech. Anyway, I don't see what all the fuss is about this short film. I've seen it and it was too dumb to take seriously and esp the thunder sound effects made me laugh. Too stupid. All it's trying to do, is incite fear and hatred of Islam, but it's so obvious that it's pathetic. A similar movie could no doubt be made about Christianity too.

POPSThree wishes "Now I want fifty of the most beautiful women imaginable." said the man. There was a puff of smoke and his wish was granted. He was annoyed, however, to see Jones grinning and waving, surrounded by his own harem of 100 women, all twice as attractive. "What is your final wish, Master?" asked the genie". "I want to lose a testicle," said the man.

POPSThe Democrats' "Slow-Bleed" Strategy continued: But surely they should not fecklessly try to weaken the U.S. position in Iraq, and America's standing in the world, by raising doubts as to our commitment in Iraq without advancing an alternative. That is precisely what they are doing with the nonbinding resolution condemning the dispatch of additional troops to Iraq. The fact that some Republicans have embraced this resolution does not excuse the Democratic party for its virtually monolithic support of it. The GOP has its share of fools and weaklings. But it is the Democratic party that now seems willing to commit itself, en masse, to a foreign policy of foolishness and weakness.
