POPSCelebrate Make Something Day "The day after Thanksgiving, thousands of Americans head for the shopping malls for a ritual known as Black Friday, called such as it’s a day when many retailers move from the red (losses) into the black (gains).Who knows if this year will be like most others for retailers. But I’d challenge you to take this year off from Black Friday. Instead, celebrate Make Something Day. "

POPSTim McGirk, friend to the Taliban and promotor of the 'secondary PTSD' defense for the murderer Hasa Noah Pollak at Commentary has discovered that Mr. McGirk has a rather interesting history: This shouldn’t be surprising coming from Tim McGirk. He went to Afghanistan after 9/11, had Thanksgiving with the Taliban, and wrote a long piece for National Geographic about what a great time he had and how we’re all just human beings doing our thing on this big blue marble, so let’s not judge. Then he went to Iraq and singlehandedly created the Haditha Massacre hoax. Then he went to Jerusalem and spent a few years slandering Israel. Now he’s trafficking in pop psychology on behalf of a likely domestic jihadist. It’s been quite a career.

POPSThankfulness Tree This is the second year we have had a Thankfulness Tree. I have some fake branches that I put in a big vase to hold the leaves. I went to a scrapbooking store and used their die cut machine to make many many leaves from paper. If you buy the paper there, you can use the machines for free. I punched holes in the leaves to hang on the branches without having to mess with string or glue or hangers of any sort. I place the leaves in a bowl with a pen so any guests that come during November can write something they are thankful for on a leaf and hang it up. On Thanksgiving we read the leaves and we give thanks for all the friends and family that have come to our house. Then I put the leaves in a bag and date it so we can read them in future years too. Yesterday, my daughter wrote that she was thankful for "being born" and for "being in this family." I am so thankful for those things too. Go, get your thankfulness on!

POPSConservative Politics Disguised As Religion I urge that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

POPSTeasers for the Coming Seasons What's a Cake Wreck? A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places. Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;) - Jen

POPS "None Of Our Business" … CNSnews.com has confirmed that “the actual final text of the legislation will be determined by Reid himself , who will consolidate the legislation approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and the still-unapproved legislation from the Senate Finance Committee. Reid will be able to draft and insert textual language that was not expressly approved by either committee.” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will write the final version of Obamacare to be considered in the Senate with no input from the American people.. Then the House rubber stamps the Senate bill and rushes it into the President’s hands: The final step in this plan is for the House to take up Obama care, without amending the legislation, and then sending that bill directly to the President for his signature.

POPSHave you seen the ObamaCare bill? Mikulski blocks "Read the Bill" rule Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) used procedural tactics this week to block an amendment offered by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) to require all bills to be posted on the Internet 72 hours before they are considered by the Senate. It is outrageous -- but perhaps not surprising -- that a U.S. Senator would oppose such a modest proposal for transparency. Watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwZz7h6tmFY&feature=channel TAKE ACTION! Contact Sen. Mikulski and tell her you're not happy she opposed the 72-hour "Read the Bill" rule. And please don't let her office tell you the amendment was not germane. The Senate adopts amendments every day that aren't germane and this one was no different. Mikulski's number is (202) 224-4654 and you can email her here. http://mikulski.senate.gov/Contact/contact.cfm

POPSCongress' Secret Plan to Pass Obamacare - CONFIRMED What Country am I living in now? I never would have dreamed we would go downhill so quickly. These people are not representing us....they are completely ignoring the will of the majority for their own personal politics. This is a democracy no longer. We are being ruled by arrogant and devious thugs. They can not be stopped! Wait til this takes on human reality...for you & me...and then see what happens.

POPSHealth Care Winds Blowing for Reform These six quotes in the clip from six sources are NOT from pro-Obama advocates....so their positive statements and/or grudging approval are interesting to consider. Obama scored another goal, 4sure. Checking with friends and party activist we feel the same: he's got the votes to take giant steps forward and it's gonna happen. USA Thanksgiving Day now the proposed suggested deadline. We won the election. We're winning again. Pop for Obama!

POPSCongressional Summer Recess: Have a Great Time Guys! The current salary for rank-and-file members of Congress is $174,000 per year. On average, over the last 9 years, they have met about 140 days a year. So far this congress has worked 23 days, out of a possible 46 days, or 50% of the time. Let's compare that to my work schedule. I get New Years Day off, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, a half day on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and a half day on New Years Eve. I also get three sick days, and two weeks vacation. That's a total of twenty days off plus weekends, for a total of 120 days off a year. That means I work 68% of the year. Congress meets, on average 140 days a year, and is off 225 days. That means congress works 38% of the year. The average congressman makes $174,000 a year, that's $1,257.14 a day, $157.14 an hour (based on an 8 hour day). I make, well, significantly less than that. How much do you make? How hard do you work for it?

POPSMarney: Thanksgiving Hostess FROM HELL!!! Remind me NEVER to have Thanksgiving dinner @ Marney's: HJB—Dinner wine The Mike Byron Family 1. Turnips in a casserole with a lid and a serving spoon. Please do not fill the casserole all the way up to the top, it gets too messy. I know this may come as a bit of a surprise to you, but most of us hate turnips so don’t feel like you a have to feed an army. 2. Two half gallons of ice cream, one must be VANILLA, I don’t care what the other one is. No store brands please. I did see an ad this morning for Hagan Daz Peppermint Bark Ice Cream, yum!! (no pressure here, though). 3. Toppings for the ice cream. 4. A case of bottled water, NOT gallons, any brand is ok.

POPSExtruded News Nuggets For May 5, 2009: Autotune on Aisle Galt! Edition UPDATE: Even more worthless stuff has been located. * Regular guys Barack and Joe went to a DC burger joint. While the fact that Regular Joe Obama wanted "spicy mustard or something like that, or a Dijon mustard, something like that" and the fact that Andrea Mitchell didn't mention his hoity toity tastes is interesting, what's even more worrisome is Biden's order: he wanted Swiss cheese, jalapenos, and ketchup on his. All those are great, just not together. (legalinsurrection.blogspot.com/2009/05/msnbc-hides-obamas-dijon-mustard.html),
