Testing Ireland's new blasphemy law
JohnWaterman
by JohnWaterman  7-13-2009    7
Ian O'Doherty's blasphemous statement: So, here we go -- Catholicism is a cannibal cult which eats its leader, Jews who believe that God wants them to settle in the Holy Land are deranged lunatics, Muslims who wants to install Islamic law are nothing but fascist terrorists and Scientologists are nothing but a bunch of brainwashed weirdos who have been suckered by the malicious rantings of a failed science-fiction writer. Alright lads, I'll see you in court.

We have found out that our little town of Hardin is the 'test town' for President Obama’s new law to privatize the police force of local communities. Last night, the city council voted to disband our sheriff’s department and to bring in a private security company to police the town. lol: lol: lol: lol:

Here We Go Again--Iran Is a Threat (but Not Nuclear Israel), blah, blah
blueridge
by blueridge  9-25-2009    7
The propaganda machine about the "threat" of Iran has kicked into high gear, again, driven (as was the Iraq war) by not just the White House and both coerced parties in Congress (via AIPAC), but US Media, singing in complete unison. Who is really playing the aggressor? Who is threatening to attack whom , ....and based upon what ? The drum beat is identical to that about Iraq and Saddam Hussein, which we know was a lie, and part of the neocon agenda for a "new middle east". The morale of that story is do not trust the government when it comes to starting (or provoking) wars and conflicts, which always begins with sanctions , and gaining the UN Gang's support, rather easily swayed. They seek to overcome any resistance by incessant REPETITION of the same propaganda message as with Iraq.

E-mails to that address now bounce back with the message: “The e-mail address you just sent a message to is no longer in service. We are now accepting your feedback about health insurance reform via http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck.” So they say, but six hours have gone by without a bounce-back. Something is fishy here.

Revenge is Sweet - But a Prank is Better!
handleriii

There is a new service "out there" that allows you to send a "TEXT BOMB" - meaning 1,000 text messages every 10 minutes with the message of your choice...like ""Just 9999 reminders that SIZE DOES MATTER!" I think it is geared towards disgruntled employees and jilted lovers, but hey, if your cheating spouse has a cell phone...or her boy/girl friend? ""Only 9999 more reminders that Valtrex is on Blue Light Special!" I could not figure out if you have to pay for this text - bombing experience. It appears to be free. ..and legal.

UK Troops Need More Helicopters: BBC Headline
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  7-16-2009
While reading this extensive BBC article about a UK "helicopter issue," in its war in Afghanistan I was wondering if there would be any schematics about latest helicopter models, wind tunnel test results, info about functioning during sand storms and other Helicopter Considerations. But I had Other Questions. It struck me that the real question was not helicopters, but what are you doing fighting a war in Afghanistan? And...Gosh, I wondered....how many times do the British have to get defeated and kicked out of Afghanistan before they get the message? And...How many pounds are the war profiteers and British Petroleum now making? And how long can the largest anti-war protest world history (one million in London) continued to be meaningless. And...How many more pounds of flesh do the warmongers need for their latest campaigns of exploitation for the benefit of corporations and the SuperRich? And..How many lies have to come out of Downing Street before the bricks beg

Category 3 storm could drain windstorm insurer Hurricane Ike will pose a major test for the state's windstorm insurer of last resort. Already slammed this year by Hurricane Dolly and Edouard, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association has $2.1 billion in funding left. "That's still a tremendous amount of money," said Mark Hanna, a spokesman for the Insurance Council of Texas, an industry trade group. "But the severity really depends on where this makes landfall. The worst-case scenario is it going into Galveston, up the Ship Channel and into Harris County." The storm could significantly reduce the association's funds, experts said. "We know it's a huge storm, and it definitely has the possibility of doing billions of dollars in damage, but we just don't know where," said Sandra Helin, a spokeswoman for the association and for Southwestern Insurance Information Services. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/metro/5996830.html

Who's the Grave Threat, Obama?
DanaGarrett
by DanaGarrett  7-9-2008    1
Although the IAEA and the CIA have declared that Iran has no nuclear weapons program, Obama called Iran a "grave threat" for firing 9 missiles during military exercises. One of the missiles has the capacity to reach Israel. Israel recently practiced a simulated bombing run on Iran's non-existent nuclear weapons facility, but no one in the USA government or running for president called Israel a "grave threat." Israeli officials have also been clear they intend to strike Iran if it doesn't give up its nuclear facilities. Yet Israel has nuclear weapons, ones obtained through illegal means according to international law. Undoubtedly, Iran was sending a message with its missile test. The message is "we will defend ourselves." How is that wrong when they have been threatened by Israel?

Director of Meteorology: Americans Should Go After Gore And Hansen
merrie
by merrie  6-24-2008    25
"It's back to the drawing board for Hansen and company as the alleged ‘consensus' over man-made climate fears continues to wane and more and more scientists declare their dissent," said Sen. Inhofe. Hear, hear! Readers are strongly advised to review all of the articles NewsBusters has published concerning the junk science being advanced by Hansen the last two decades. *****Update: Please don't miss fabulous posts concerning this matter by CEI's Chris Horner published at NRO's Planet Gore such as this, this, and this. In particular, don't miss Horner exposing Hansen for staging his June 1988 Congressional appearance by timing it for the hottest day of the year, and having the air conditioning turned off in the hearing room to make it especially toasty. Also, D'Aleo has more here.

Job Security: watch out for 800-chacha
missmartini
by missmartini  4-25-2008
I was reading an email from a coworker at the public library I work at and it was about 800-chacha. Similar to Google411, but more on random information you might be wondering about. If you have an iPhone or Smart Phone, you could look it up yourself but if you do not have that (trust me, I'm one of those people - my phone is 5 years old) then this might help you. I am not sure if it will do away with the need for the reference librarian but it does add more competition I suppose. However, they said school librarians were not necessary and now, with integrating technology as well as assisting with curriculum development, school librarians are still relevant.
