Health bills could expand IRS role

What a mess this should be. They are spending billions on this. Wouldn't it be more sensible to put the money directly into universal health care rather than spending it to "police" citizens? But I guess that would not be beneficial to the insurance providers

In response to my Paxil post -- Is Paxil creating more people who aren’t self-reflective? More “Conservatives Without a Conscience”? Happy Idiots http://bit.ly/4EBV8s -- I received the post below from a real zombie, an actual conservative, with thought patterns similar to Michelle Bauchman, Glenn Beck, Palin, the tea-baggers, all the Republicans (notice how they do everything in unison -- complete authoritarian mind-control. Wow. Scary. Who knows, maybe they are the Borg! (As Palin, would say, *wink*)) Here's my response to his comments below. And remember to be kind to this drug addict. Who knows if he wouldn't be one of us is he wasn't popping that Matrix-promoted soma (Paxil)? My comment to him follows: Sorry to wake you from your Paxil-induced unreality. You remind me of the people I know on Paxil. They see their own traits reflected outside of themselves. As a therapist of 40 years, I'm quite familiar with that. It's called projection. The Peace Dividend: Myth and Reality
katsteevns
by katsteevns  1-4-2010
Despite America's fiscal recklessness in the 1980s, the sudden end of the cold war has provided the nation at least a modest opportunity to improve its economic health without raising taxes or cutting already anemic social spending. The nation has wasted such opportunities in the past, notably after Viet Nam. It could all too easily squander its savings again. Washington should provide leadership on this issue, not pliancy to every special-interest group. The worst outcome would be for the U.S. to beat its swords into more credit cards.

It's All Obama's Fault! The New Self-Help(?) Game

More examples from article below: "D. (The delivery person brought you the wrong pizza). President Obama is from Chicago, which is famous for it's deep-dish pizza. It is President Obama's fault that you got the wrong pizza, since he is destroying the morale of hard working pizza-delivery people. E. (Your girlfriend just dumped you). Before Barack Obama became engaged to Michelle, they were boyfriend and girlfriend. It is President Obama's fault that your girlfriend dumped you because she is looking for someone who is an elitist like he is." And, etc..... By str-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-tching your imagination, this little "blame-game" will work to enable you to place all responsibility for your own life (as well as everyone else's) at Obama's doorstep. Yay!

Seniors are America's new Jews
jatfla
by jatfla  12-27-2009
FTA: "Seniors now find themselves as the official go-to group for a president intent on taking both life and property and giving to those who are younger, more diverse, to illegal immigrants, and Democratic Party allies. Consequently, the Obama-led Democrats, with the help of intellectual and media elites, have declared open season on grandma and grandpa, with Newsweek Evan going so far as to feature a cover detailing "The Case for Killing Granny." My son & I were discussing this after I had put my Mother to bed. The best way to provide for Congress' Health Care Bill is to limit the number of users. The best way to "help the Planet" is to decrease the population. The best was to "save Social Security" is to eliminate the number of people who need it. I'm not a journalist, an elitist, a Marxist, a numbers-cruncher but even I can see what they are doing. Those who no longer are major contributers to society have no rights in Obama's society.

10 Reasons Why Republicans Will Win in 2010
kareval

CAP and TAX – Another massive tax increase on American families and small businesses. Ben Nelson’s Payoff – Ben Nelson sold his health care vote to Harry Reid for $300+ million in lower taxes for Nebraska. The $12 Trillion+ National Debt – Democrats in Congress spending money they don’t have. Mortgaging our children’s future. Nationwide Unemployment rate at 10% - The Democrats are spending money like it’s going out of style and yet they are ignoring policies that would create new jobs. The Government Takeover of Health Care - If the bill that comes out of Congress is signed into law, it will amount to a massive government expansion into our daily lives. It is the number one reason why Democrats should be defeated. Huck PAC is determined to lead the charge next year to regain Republican Majorities in the House and Senate. We will only support conservatives. We have a December online fundraising goal that we are $9,119 away from reaching. Will you make a donation today to

What the Copenhagen treaty means to you.
papadavid
by papadavid  12-13-2009
The wording of the treaty creates governmental bodies with a vast array of power over environmental affairs. The treaty gives these new governmental bodies tremendous power over the lives of every man, woman and child on earth. It even grants these new governmental authorities authority over the U.S. government and the U.S. Constitution. "Tax the American economy to the extent of 2 percent GDP, to impose a further tax of 2 percent on every financial transaction.and to close down effectively the economies of the west, transfer your jobs to third world countries all of that is still in the treaty draft." 700 new organizations that would be crawling all over the world micromanaging the lives of every man, woman and child - making sure that they are adhering to the edicts of the new environmental world laws.

Here's what WON'T happen in 2010
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  1-2-2010    3
Obama will stop blaming George W. Bush for his failures. Liberals will stop blaming George W. Bush for him failing to get them a date on eHarmony.com. After admitting that human behavior might not be causing global warming, Al Gore will get a real job. California will become a national model for state budgeting. The New Jersey Nets will waltz their way to an NBA championship. General Motors will become the world's most profitable carmaker. Despite Democrats' massive spending, taxes in America will fall. Huge new taxes to pay for ObamaCare will spur investors to pour billions into new businesses, igniting a wild economic boom overnight. Obama, America's first postpartisan president, will actually include Republican ideas in his agenda. The mainstream media will treat Sarah Palin fairly. and pundits will finally stop making stupid predictions.

“A History lesson….Cry for Me, Argentina” 12.9.2009
merrie
by merrie  12-30-2009    3
Among Irigoyen’s changes: mandatory pension insurance, mandatory health insurance, and support for low-income housing construction to stimulate the economy. Simply put, the state assumed economic control of a vast swath of the country’s operations and began assessing new payroll taxes to fund its efforts. With an increasing flow of funds into these entitlement programs, the government’s payouts soon became overly generous. Before long its outlays surpassed the value of the taxpayers’ contributions. Put simply, it quickly became under-funded, much like the United States Social Security and Medicare programs. The death knell for the Argentine economy, however, came with the election of Juan Perón. Perón had a fascist and corporatist upbringing ; he and his charismatic wife aimed their populist rhetoric at the nation’s rich. This targeted group “swiftly expanded to cover most of the propertied middle classes, who became an enemy to be defeated and humiliated.”

Obama's Critics Are Also in His Administration
merrie
by merrie  12-27-2009    1
Those deficits were nothing compared to those provided in Obama's budget. His deficits would last years after the recession is over and in spite of the massive tax increases that promises to accompany them. The Democrats correctly criticized Bush's deficits. Feldstein notes that Obama's deficits, because of its expensive health care agenda will reach $9.3 trillion -- more than twice the amount of the previous administration. In an earlier article in the Washington Post, Feldstein noted that "For the 85 percent of Americans who already have health insurance, the Obama health plan is bad news. It means higher taxes, less health care and no protection if they lose their current insurance because of unemployment or early retirement." Feldstein also notes that the price of the program is enormous and would cost more than $1 trillion and would raise the current maximum tax rate from 35 to 45 percent.

I don't usually comment on US health care, BUT to be *forced* to pay private profit-making company for inadequate health coverage, with premiums increasing as I age, would make me very riled. And the policy won't do any good for the image of Obama, the Federales, or the health insurance industry. Where is Ralph Nader and a third Party when you need them? Couldn't he get together with Ron Paul -- the ultimate coalition. Howard Dean seems to understand what's going on, but he's an MD. If I were an American, then I would want to try something different. Anything! Why aren't people organising?

..... and the parties who are going to be assaulted first are the elderly who will be denied care in nursing homes, hospices and doctors visits and told to just go climb on an ice sheet and float to their death for the good of the village as the Inuit's did long ago. That is what awaits Americans as every American is going to need care sooner or later, and for those who think that the rich will get care, the patricians had better learn a lesson of fact, that when the system breaks down, as government is bankrupt, then places like the Mayo Clinic are not developing advanced treatments for the rich, and the rich people find out in 5 years that they too are being left to die. Americans will now be made criminals in not paying into this butcher system and this blogger will refuse to be a part of any system as this. Oddly if Keith Olbermann holds his moral ground, we will be in an Obama concentration camp charged with the same crimes of failure to hand over our money to a

Then there will be no way out but to create more debt in order to finance the old debt. It assures a period of economic devastation. In a last, desperate attempt, politicians at the federal and local levels will raise taxes to astronomical heights to raise revenues. And that only assures destruction of the economy. Forget the fable of economic recovery. Unless there is a change in Washington by next year's election, there will be no way to turn back.

When Liberal Dreams Collide With Public Opinion
merrie
by merrie  12-22-2009    1
"What's really exceptional at this stage of Obama's presidency," writes Andrew Kohut, the Pew Research Center's respected pollster, "is the extent to which the public has moved in a conservative direction on a range of issues. These trends have emanated as much from the middle of the electorate as from the highly energized conservative right. From which we can draw two conclusions. One is that economic distress does not move Americans to support more government. Rasmussen reports that 66 percent of Americans favor smaller government with fewer services and only 22 percent favor more services and higher taxes. The second is that Barack Obama's persuasive powers are surprisingly weak. His advocacy seems to have moved Americans in the opposite of the intended direction. Obama first came to national attention in 2004 by promising to heal partisan, ideological and racial divisions. Like the other two Democratic presidents elected in the last 40 years .....

LAST HAND-DELIVERY TO BEGIN MONDAY 12/21. Petitions for our LAST DELIVERY BEFORE THE OBAMACARE VOTE must be signed by MIDNIGHT SUNDAY NIGHT to be included. Your petition will be HAND-DELIVERED to your two U.S. Senators’ D.C. Offices. Hand-delivery process for this volume of petitions takes app. 2-3 business days. You will be notified when this hand-delivery is completed. White House pressure to pass the government-run healthcare plan has never been more intense as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid uses whatever political tricks he can to capture enough votes to pass a bill that no one has actually seen and is expected to cost Americans more than $2.5 trillion through steep tax increases. Under the plan even if you enjoy your coverage, you may not be able to keep it. In fact, government bureaucrats will have the power to dictate the kind of health coverage Americans must purchase and what benefits they can receive.

Well, for starters because it’s considered Dem accompli … not least by the GOP. There’s an element of cold harsh reality in that. This is an electorate that remained largely asleep and disinterested when lawmakers, taking their cue from the 70-30 vote against a ballot measure to phase out the income tax, raised taxes. I would have thought the GOP would be more interested in kicking off the 2010 election season with a good showing, if not a win, in bluest Mass. Those are sheep guts that all the soothsayers would want a look at.

When it comes to Adam Lambert, gay organizations should either ignore the guy or criticize him for helping foster the image that gay people are obsessed with sex and flaunting that in the public square. While many gay and lesbian singers, actors and talk show hostesses live their lives openly, they leave the sexual aspect of their lives where it belongs: behind closed doors. After Lambert’s recent stunt at the American Music Awards, he has certainly extended his fifteen minutes. I don't act like that and none of my gay friends act like that. Lambert is an idiot. He does nothing to improve the image of gay people. Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen De Generes he surely is not.
