POPSWhat Is Angina? Overview It's thought that nearly 7 million people in the United States suffer from angina. About 400,000 patients go to their doctors with new cases of angina every year. Angina occurs equally in men and women. It can be a sign of heart disease, even when initial tests don't show evidence of CAD. Not all chest pain or discomfort is angina. A heart attack, lung problems (such as an infection or a blood clot), heartburn, or a panic attack also can cause chest pain or discomfort. All chest pain should be checked by a doctor.

POPSBarack Obama is becoming a figure of fun If this is the Messiah, nobody is standing up for the Hallelujah Chorus any more. The most striking aspect of it was the tone of mockery, epitomised by Mason Weaver’s brilliant soundbite satirising Obama’s dependence on a teleprompter. The prevailing tone of anti-Obama public expression is becoming more relaxed, because his absurd projects are now recognised as a house of cards. Obama set himself the task of turning America into a socialist state: he should have started with a less ambitious project, such as pushing water uphill or transmuting base metals into gold. Barack Obama is in danger of becoming a figure of fun. His opponents are beginning to hate him less and laugh at him more. That is the most deadly fate that can overtake any politician. If there is one phenomenon that should strike blind terror into White House spin doctors it is the sound of derisive laughter. No political career can survive that.

POPS'throwing the bums back in' on a continual basis
As the Incumbistani do have to stand for re-election from time to time, although often in 'safe' districts that their parties have gerrymandered into existence to protect those 'safe' seats, most of that is a rubber stamp affair with those backers who get goodies from the Incumbistani government wanting to show up to continue the goody stream, while those not getting goodies feel that they are left out and, soon, unrepresented by their 'Representative' who has the vested interest of those who gain from his or her votes to get goodies to them as a higher principle than the rest of the plebians there. My initial feeling was that it had been a long time since there was even a 30% turnover in Congress, and I was right. The last times that happened in the post-'Progressive' era were: 1904, 1912-1916, 1922, 1934. As the top graph's red line is percentage, the startling artifact is that all Congresses prior to 1902 had never REACHED a 70% return rate.

POPSRinging of the Ears: Erroneous Beliefs More than fifty million people are affected by ringing of the ears. But few among these afflicted know what they actually are going through. While science has continued to further research about tinnitus, more misconceptions mislead people still. Wrong beliefs do not help people on their way to accepting their condition. Read the following to know more:

POPSPosture Makes Perfect: Correcting postural misalignments helps ease chronic pain
More: Back, neck and shoulder pain frequently occur when the body tries to compensate for weak or underused muscles. “Lower back pain is the most common complaint from new clients… vertigo…TMJ (jaw pain), rotator cuff problems and neck, shoulder, knee and foot pain.” He adds that while many patients are at first skeptical as to the relationship between posture and, say, jaw pain, they often feel relief after just one session. After a thorough postural evaluation from an Egoscue therapist, the client receives a “menu,” or series of exercises and stretches called E-cises. While the specific exercises often do not appear directly related to the pain site—for example, thigh strengtheners and/or an upper back stretch may be prescribed for lower back pain—they are based on the muscles that are currently moving improperly. Muscles that may be compensating or substituting for other muscles now return to performing their proper roles, which in turn relieves the pain.

POPSMore on the Rise of the Euro-Right
Reason has a good post up discussing the rise of the Euro-Right. Moynihan dismantles a number of misconceptions by Left-wing pundits desperate to present the British National Party as a phenomenon of the Right. Here are some good posts about the BNP by Daniel Hannan. For instance: "BBC presenters keep calling the BNP "far Right"? Nick Griffin's acceptance speech: He wasn't going to talk about immigration policy he said, since everyone knew where he stood on the subject. No, his priority was to expose the way in which public assets had been privatized. Look at the BNP's manifesto: it wants nationalisation, subsidy, higher taxes, protectionism and (sotto voce) the abolition of the monarchy. And look at where its votes came from. The BNP is a symptom of Labour's collapse." http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/daniel_hannan/blog/2009/04/24/new_statesman_bnp_is_to_the_left_of_labour http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/daniel_hannan/blog/2009/06/08/2009_european_elections_ten_conclusions

POPS Pretty Good Week!!! But if you have any question as to whether or not her visit, meant to spin the fuck out of the foul shit going on at GITMO, is a symptom of all that is wrong and unholy in the world, take a look at what one right wing *nutblog had to say in support of her: Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza, by the way, was crowned Miss Universe in July 2008 in Nha Trang, Vietnam . It’s like she’s the In-Your-Face Ambassador of Free World Hotness to the Commie Holdout World. And scene. *Miss Venezuela Hearts Guantanamo http://www.julescrittenden.com/2009/03/31/miss-universe-hearts-guantanamo/

POPSNY mayor to New Yorkers: You are now all involuntary lab rats
More: In the past year, researchers…have reported one of the most rigorous experiments so far: a randomized clinical trial of heart patients who were put on different diets. Those on a low-sodium diet were more likely to be rehospitalized and to die, results that prompted the researchers to ask, “Is sodium an old enemy or a new friend?” Those results…are a reminder that salt affects a great deal more than blood pressure. Lowering it can cause problems with blood flow to the kidneys and insulin resistance, which can increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Salt deprivation might also darken your mood, according to recent research…After analyzing the behavior and brain chemistry of salt-deprived rats, the psychologists found that salt, like chocolate and cocaine, affected reward circuitry in the brain, and that salt-deprived rats exhibited anhedonia, a symptom of depression characterized by the inability to enjoy normally pleasurable activities.

POPSAmericans' Greedy Consumerism Behind Financial Crisis
While everyone is blaming the bankers they need to look in a mirror. Greed is not monopolized by Wall Street. Even those who make over $100k per year spend as much as they take in with little savings, paycheck to paycheck. This not a symptom of government of course, nor companies they work for, but spending according to wants instead of needs , or buying a house too early. But the impact of this during layoffs and tightening credit causes all of society to bear the weight of others' personal financial decisions, including banks. If people had bought within their means, instead spending only upon their wants, saved, thus paid their mortgage loans on time, there would be no collapse of the banks! People use to save a long time before buying a house, but recent generations live on the edge and want everything now, and jeapordize their housing. This is also what makes radio finance people like Dave Ramsay so rich for merely using common sense.

POPSWeren't Repubs protecting bonuses 2 weeks ago? TNR has collected an assortment of quotes from leading Republicans on the hill about executive bonuses and boy are they a doozy. Remember how just a few weeks ago the thought of limiting executive compesation for corporate executives was pure socialism for Republicans?

POPSDidn't Republicans JUST Say We Shouldn't Ban Bonuses...2 Weeks Ago? And a few more FTA: "I really don't want the government to take over these businesses and start telling them everything about what they can do." Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told ABC News in February, when asked about Obama's proposed limits on executive compensation. Senator Jim DeMint, who attacked the original bailout bill as "pure socialism," characterized executive pay caps as a dangerous government intervention.
