POPSWho Am I? "I wrote my first book in my mid-thirties. It is an autobiography with insights into my childhood years and growth into political thought." "My second book was released shortly thereafter, and it provides a deeper understanding of my political ideas." "Meanwhile, I was working as a community organizer and politician. My books, accompanied by my speeches, caught the attention of a nation. I was hailed as an excellent orator, a powerful organizer, and an agent of change for my country." "I am calling for a new world order -- change that everyone in the world can believe in." "My country is experiencing one of the largest economic crises in its history. I will offer solutions. I will clamp down on big business and provide government options to take over the industry. Our current system rewards those that are greedy and exploits those that are economically weak. I will offer healthcare for every man, woman, and child in the nation." "I will remove the greedy from their posi

POPS Ohio Couple Giving Up Baby After Clinic Mix-Up
Savage and her husband decided that the right thing"the only thing"to do was to give the baby to the biological parents. "This was someone else's child," she told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "We didn't know who it was. We didn't know if they didn't have children or if this was their last chance for a child." "We knew if our child was out there, we'd go to the ends of the earth to get our child back," she said. Savage, 40, is due to give birth to a boy within the next two weeks via cesarean section. When it happens, biological parents Paul and Shannon Morell, of Michigan, will be nearby, waiting to meet their son. "How do you thank somebody for what they've done?" Shannon Morell said. "I could say thank you a million different ways." The Savages say the fertility clinic transferred the wrong frozen embryo to Carolyn's womb in early February. Ten days later, Sean Savage got a call from a doctor saying his wife was pregnant with someone else's child.

POPSPres. Obama's Speech = Huge Progress
Once again our new President Obama stepped up to the plate and blasted another home run. His speech last night to a rare joint session of Congress (i.e. all our politicians), was firm, assertive, inspiring and pointed to real and positive changes, i.e. 1) no disqualifications for pre-existing conditions and 2) Not dropping people's health insurance when they get sick! Gads! -- Not needing is much I had no idea the health insurance industry was so cruel and so criminal...criminal, imo, that someone has insurance then when they get cancer their policy is NOT RENEWED! Wow...that's evil. (If you've been reading any of the 80 posts by merri today, or only listening to USA corrosive and toxic news, you may have missed the boat on where this is going: It's going to certain victory on the two (2) points mentioned above. It surreal the vile Republican spin that trys to drag Obama down, call things failed, and the dude hasn't even gotten up to bat yet! He hit this one out of t

POPSPost-Katrina 'vigilante' violence: rumor or fact?
What actually happened and who is culpable in these incidents is now the focus of probes by the US Attorney's Office and the FBI. Asked why investigations like these are just now being launched, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin recently explained, "We had a little event called Katrina." Some New Orleanians believe the allegations point to "a broader pattern of violence ... that should reframe our understanding of the catastrophe," writes A.C. Thompson, a reporter with ProPublica, a nonprofit journalism venture. In an article published in The Nation, a weekly news magazine, he claims that incidents of white-on-black violence "have gone unpunished." But teasing the facts out of a flood of rumor and grains of truth will be daunting. It is a "morally treacherous" gambit to measure the actions of stressed people in the virtually lawless state of post-Katrina New Orleans by typical standards, says Peter Scharf, a criminologist at Tulane University. The outcome, he worries, could impact t

POPS'I'm the guy who received your son's heart' Mark Phillips was a 21-year-old graduate of York Tech. He worked as a diesel mechanic, but wanted to drive big rigs. He was working in that direction when the accident occurred. On Sept. 22, 2007, he was riding his Yamaha V Star on Route 30, heading toward Gettysburg, with his best friend and his father. He wasn't feeling well and was lagging behind when the two other riders made it through the light at Kenneth Road. A witness later told police that it looked like his motorcycle folded. It didn't. It flipped. His mother suspects that he became ill, threw up and while doing that, gripped the front brake too hard, causing the bike to flip. He wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered extensive brain injuries.

POPS Abstract Art of Agonizing Migraines
Up to one third of people who experience migraines get a preceding aura, in which they may sense a strange light or unpleasant smell. Some have noted that they smell burnt toast preceding a migraine. Migraine is believed to be caused by the release of a chemical called serotonin or 5HT into the bloodstream from its storage sites in the body, resulting in changes in the neurotransmitters and blood vessels in the brain. Exactly what causes this to happen is still a subject for research and debate. Although the exact cause of migraine remains unknown, the most widespread theory is that it’s a disorder of the serotonergic control system. Recently, PET scans have demonstrated the aura to coincide with spreading cortical depression after an episode of greatly increased blood flow (up to 300% higher than baseline). There also appear to be migraine variants that originate in the brainstem and involve dysfunction in calcium and potassium ion transport between cell membranes.

POPSDick Cheney rolls in his grave "You might say Dick is not pleased. In fact, Dick Cheney -- and the entire hawkish, antagonistic worldview he embodies -- is downright furious at this country's dangerous new direction. Which, in its way, just might be the best news I've heard all year." Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2009/08/14/notes081409.DTL#ixzz0OK4eeiMd

POPSFlight nightmare and Continental could care less Their customer service is non existent. Go to their web site and notice how no link what so ever to contact anybody. Just link and link to pages that only offer more menu's. How convenient. This is not isolated event. did google search on continental airlines complaints and some of the stories are outrageous. But i guess until the general public is aware of how they could care less for the customer they keep getting business. And that is all they care about. My solution is if you can't get them online then call their 800 number and voice your opinions of them. Sooner or later the CEO may get complaints from his cronies about all the calls and have to address the issue.

POPS"I am Jesus Christ" - John Lennon "The Beatles looked rather stunned, but said nothing. “It was totally surreal,“ says Pete. “But nobody cross-examined him. No plans were made to announce the Messiah’s arrival. There was a bit of muttering, then silence, till somebody suggested the meeting was adjourned for lunch. “In the restaurant over lunch a man came up to John and said: ’Really nice to meet you, how are you?’ ’Actually,’ said John, ’I’m Jesus Christ.’ ’Oh, really,’ said the man. ’Well, I liked your last record.’ “
