Fox News isn't even pretending anymore
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-16-2009    3
The boldest innovator, however, has been Fox News. Since President Obama’s election, the cable news channel has dropped all but the barest pretense of objectivity. Billing itself as “fair and balanced,” Fox has turned itself into what White House communications director Anita Dunn recently called “the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party.” Actually, that’s an extremely polite way of putting it. It’s closer to Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth.” Fox openly promotes “Tea Parties” and other political demonstrations; it portrays every perceived White House defeat, such as Chicago’s failure to secure the 2016 Olympic Games, as a victory for something called “Fox Nation.” “Doublethink,” Orwell called it: the ability to “hold simultaneously two opinions which canceled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them.” So it is with “Fox Nation” and “fair and balanced.”

Second Thoughts
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-17-2009
I went back and re-read what I had written. And I listened for far too long to the right wing hate machine who did what they could to crap all over Barack's big day. Did I -- and others on the left -- do the same? We are weary, weary of war. Obama is moving too slow for most of us -- but he needs to know we are with him and we stand beside him as he attempts to turn eight years of sheer madness around. Who could do that in nine months? Superman? Thor? Mitch McConnell? Instead of waiting to see what the president is going to do, we all need to be pro-active and push the agenda that we want to see enacted. on't abandon the best hope we've had in our lifetime for change. Now for the tasks ahead. We need you to do all that you promised to do. We need it. The world needs it. Fred (that's Norwegian for "Peace") ---- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O7PnvVgQvA

this is actually a really interesting piece on Milk- seems like it's practically Superman-ish of us if your body is actually friendly to the idea of milk intake (based on stats around the world) this def falls under the 'i learned something new today' category.

Rush To The President: "DEBATE ME"
merrie
by merrie  3-5-2009    3
If Rush really is the drug-addled gasbag the left makes him out to be, then the Obamassiah with his silver tongue and glistening bronze pecs should have no problem besting him in a debate. Right, Obama culties? Your Obamassiah should have nothing to fear from Rush, should he? I mean, surely Obama would welcome the opportunity to clean the clock of his most influential heretic? Right? These Chicago thugs were counting on Rush folding faster than Superman on laundry day… like their Republican opponents. The last thing they expected was for Rush to challenge him right back. "But I have an idea. If these guys are so impressed with themselves, and if they are so sure of their correctness, why doesn't President Obama come on my show? We will do a one-on-one debate of ideas and policies. Now, his people in this Politico story, it's on the record." http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_030409/content/01125106.guest.html
