Success of Macao
FeedsBlogger
by FeedsBlogger  12-28-2009
Gaming industry has a long history in Macao and it was first legalised in mid 19th century. Entering the 21st century, the gaming industry has developed a very close relation with the tourism industry and become a pillar of Macao's economy. It has also earned Macao an appellation of "Monte Carlo of the Orient". In the fourth quarter of 2008, the gross revenue of the gaming sector amounted to MOP24.36 billion (USD3.05 billion). The sector contributed MOP41.90 billion (USD5.24 billion) in direct tax to the MSAR in 2008.

I hope this has a fairly happy ending. The child has been with his wife's family for most of his life, but to me, his Dad has rightful custody. FTA: Goldman said he would allow Sean's Brazilian relatives to visit with his son if he won the case. "I will not do to them what they've done to Sean and me,"

How criticism of the global warming orthodoxy dissapeared from Wikipedia
amgumen
by amgumen  12-20-2009    1
the hockey stick graph. This icon showed temperatures in the last 1,000 years to have been stable — no Medieval Warm Period, not even the Little Ice Age of a few centuries ago. Connolley took control of all things climate in the most used information source the world has ever known – Wikipedia. On Feb. 14, he began to erase the Little Ice Age; on Aug.11, the Medieval Warm Period. In October, he turned his attention to the hockey stick graph. Connolley created or rewrote 5,428 unique Wikipedia articles. His control over Wikipedia was greater still, however, through the role he obtained at Wikipedia as a website administrator, which allowed him to act with virtual impunity. When Connolley didn’t like the subject of a certain article, he removed it — more than 500 articles of various descriptions disappeared at his hand. over 2,000 Wikipedia contributors who ran afoul of him found themselves blocked from making further contributions.

An Open Letter to Michael Mann, Disgraced Victim of Climategate
merrie
by merrie  12-18-2009    2
If you possessed but a modicum of honesty, you would simply admit your crimes. Oh -- are you familiar with Archimedes? When ice melts, water levels actually fall. It has to do with displacement and the density of ice versus water. Claiming that sea levels will rise because glaciers melt is either ignorant or fraudulent. Can you pass that along to your buddy-slash-current Science Czar John "Mass Sterilization" Holdren? He's actually been wrong about, well, pretty much everything over the years. Maybe you could help him out. Mr. Mann, the best thing you could do would be to come clean and seek forgiveness. Such an act would be both humbling and liberating. You should try it. It's an option that's always available. And it's never too late to free yourself. Would you agree that humility and contrition are noble endeavors? ... Join a Credit Union ...

My own relationship with Banks is complicated. (1) My impressions of Banks are clouded by my 46 year relationship with them. (2) Like most folks, I started out as a borrower, but now I'm a depositor. (3) Several of the "Big 5" are my Customers and one of these is even a "Client". (4) I've learned that Canadian Banks are very different than those in the United States. All of that being said, after meeting with my bankers this morning, I can't help but feel the best way to help them fight their own executive bureaucracies is to ... Join a credit union!

The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming. For Gaia’s sake, he’s not a scientist, he’s an alarmist! Didn’t the Norwegian Nobel Committee make that clear? He can’t be expected to stick to facty stuff. Too much depends on it.  Something wrong with all this so called Political Correctness. The student drew the picture shortly after taking a family trip to see the Christmas display at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, a Christian retreat site. He made the drawing in class after his teacher asked the children to sketch something that reminded them of Christmas, the father said.

Stephen McIntyre: Portrait of a Climate Analyst
merrie
by merrie  12-13-2009    1
--- it claimed the 1990s was the millennium's hottest decade " he's considered a denier by those who fear the planet is burning up. But the Toronto native won't stop asking the tough questions. "We shouldn't give any thanks whatsoever to people who obstruct efforts to show that their particular theory was wrong," said McIntyre, whose own work is derided as bunk by the tight-knit academics he monitors. Now, skeptics of climate change " and McIntyre is not alone " have new fodder to absorb from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit scandal. Hacked emails have been made public, suggesting scientists may have manipulated data to offer more dramatic interpretations of global warming. It's that kind of bad science, bolstered by peer-reviewed papers and protected by agenda-driven researchers, that McIntyre wants to expose. And no, he's not funded by the oil industry or big business " the Toronto native is unpaid, living off his savings
