POPSEvery Alaskan gets $3200 from oil money - for nothing! $22,400 for a family of 7, like Palin's. When oil companies pay taxes to Alaska, they deduct it from their federal taxes, and we of the other 49 make up the difference. 85% of budget from oil companies; residents pay no income or sales taxes, and state is rolling in dough, while most states are laying off teachers. How ironic, when an Alaska Republican opposes a windfall profits tax, and favor reduced government services - when they live, in part, off of government handouts from revenue the oil industry pays them to get oil to us!

POPSSome RNC Delegates Give a Little to Get a Lot In the video, WA GOP delegate, Jacob Brassington recounts how he was bribed during the Washington State GOP Convention in an attempt to sway his principled Ron Paul support away to a lesser presidential candidate. That was just at the STATE convention, I am waiting to hear how much was offered at the NATIONAL convention, and I am betting it was more than $500 plus expenses! Would you sell out???

POPSGov. Sarah Palin was for "Bridge to Nowhere" In fact, the Palin administration has spent "tens of millions of dollars" in federal funds to start building a road on Gravina Island that is supposed to link up to the yet-to-be-built bridge, Weinstein said. Republican Mike Elerding also told McClatchy Newspapers, “he would have a hard time voting for the McCain ticket because of Palin's subsequent neglect of Ketchikan and her flip-flop on the "Ralph Bartholomew Veterans Memorial Bridge." Yet another outing of Liepublicans.

POPSUSA minus Alaska If all you look at is Fox Noise or read is The Washington Times then you may have missed this tidbit. It stands as yet another example in a growing list of examples of poor choices that McCain has recently made.

POPSFred Thompson Speaks on Service to Our Country She is from a small town, with small town values, but that's not good enough for those folks who are attacking her and her family. Some Washington pundits and media big shots are in a frenzy over the selection of a woman who has actually governed rather than just talked a good game on the Sunday talk shows and hit the Washington cocktail circuit. Well, give me a tough Alaskan governor who has taken on the political establishment in the largest state in the union -- and won -- over the beltway business-as-usual crowd any day of the week. Let's be clear ... the selection of Gov. Palin has the other side and their friends in the media in a state of panic. She is a courageous, successful, reformer, who is not afraid to take on the establishment. Sound like anyone else we know? She has run a municipality and she has run a state. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/02/thompson.transcript/index.html Excerpt of Fred Thompson below:

POPSGOP Sells $3 Obama Bill At Washington State Fair MONROE, Wash. -- The head of the Snohomish County Republican Party is apologizing after volunteers sold fake $3 bills depicting Sen. Barack Obama in traditional Arab headgear, with a camel. The volunteers were manning the Snohomish County GOP's booth at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, according to the Herald of Snohomish County. The bills identify the likely Democratic nominee for president as "Da Man" and show signatures for "Teddy Kennedy, Chief Socialism Advisor," and "Al Sharpton, New Spiritual Advisor." Snohomish County Republican Party chairwoman Geri Modrell told The Herald that she called volunteers in the booth to have it removed when she first heard about it on Tuesday. "I want to apologize to anyone upset or offended by seeing it," she told the paper.

POPSAttacking Palin on experience, that is a laugh Does she have big foreign policy chops? Other than some foreign trade experience, no. But neither does Obama. It's amazing to me how you can complain about Palin being a heartbeat away from the presidency, when Obama would be ZERO heartbeats away from the presidency.

POPSUnclaimed Money In California $5 billion worth of California unclaimed property money in State coffers. The unclaimed funds have piled-up because the State was more active in collecting abandoned assets than it was in locating the owners.

POPS The Chicken Or the State Road? As we were coming back home yesterday from mowing grass on our farm, I was chilling out and I didn't even notice that we passed a chicken pecking in the ditch. Suddenly, under his breath my husband says: "Chicken is cleaning the ditch better than the state road" Now, I dunno why, but this remark struck me as insanely funny and I couldn't stop laughing. You probably have to live in this state to get the joke, but regardless, laughter is so good for the soul isn't it?

POPSDemocrats have done what in 2 years? They can lambast all they want about the 'past 8 years' Truth be told the Democrats have effective control of the house and senate as well as a majority of the governorships in the U.S. since November, 2006. We already know that the 'Speaker of the House' is a sad joke. And Congress actually has as low (if not lower) approval rating than the current president. So, I ask- democrats already have control, now what have you done with it? Nothing. Same as usual.

POPSMcCain and Michigan In its "Insiders Poll" this week, the National Journal asks 77 Republican luminaries (pollsters, lobbyists, strategists, and so on) which states McCain has the best chance of picking up. At the top of of the list is Michigan. A handful of Democrats, polled on the same question, put New Hampshire at the top of the list and Michigan second. The clip delves into the political dynamics at work in Michigan.
