POPSMyspace: The Ghetto of the Internet? Personally, I have no space of my own, I don't book my face, and I sure as HELL don't tweet. LiveJournal.com: When you care more about what people are thinking than what they're doing. And by the way... Peet's is more cultured than Starbucks, and Jazz is more cultured than bubblegum pop. That's neither good nor bad, but it is a fact. I'm just sayin'...

POPSSmugglers New Instrument If the government passes new legislation that would enable any government border security person to see how much I am carrying on my "cash card" be it a debit or credit type acct., essentially, another basic right to privacy would be gone. Alot of laws are being passed in the name of national security from terrorism that are eroding our personal liberties. Kind of the BRAVE NEW WORLD coming at us....

POPSStarbucks ... In Italy we don't have Starbucks, I went there sometimes in London... but yet, I can't uderstand WHICH is the difference between a coffee and a Starbucks coffee. The only one that I can think is that the waiter that carries the former has a one-to-one relationship with his/her boss, who, besides, is likely to be seen behind the bar, actually MAKING the coffee. Why do modern and advanced people prefer to work for anonimous, far and mighty business giants? Let me understand, really.

POPSNotes From Another Credit Card Crisis “The excess was similar to what’s happening with the American housing market today,” recalled Song Ji-hoon, a Rolex-wearing lawyer in his mid-30s who worked on behalf of one of the credit card companies. “Koreans wanted fancy cars, bigger TVs — although there was no real money to buy them — much the way those Americans thought that they could own houses with nothing but loans. Of course, in both instances, banks got greedy extending credits and mortgages to people who couldn’t pay back. The real hangover can be seen in a shift in buying habits. Before the mass use of credit cards, Koreans had been big savers. In a culture where family members are expected to help one another financially, they put money away for everything."

POPSIndividualism Right. we play to them. They all want us drink the same stuff, eat the same stuff and have the same look. Breed the same way, love the same way, dress the same way. is the dream for individualism too good to be true?

POPSTake Cover! Marketing Blitz for McCafe Is on the Way http://adage.com/article?article_id=136423 McDonald's Massive $100 Million Coffee Launch Impossible to Escape The coffee war grows bigger! In recessions people naturally shift spending from higher priced luxuries (Starbuck's) to lower priced commodities (McDonald's coffee). Case in point: while Starbuck's is pruning coffee dollars have already shifted to McDonald's... so when eyes are already on the Golden Arches can McDonald's branch out from their speedy fast-food Masterbrand perception with McCafe? If the campaign is right, the "Mc" in the name seems wrong to me. Regardless, Starbuck's has already launched their new campaign: "Beware of a cheaper cup of coffee. It comes with a price." Can't wait to see more of the coffee wars!

POPSWhen All You Have Left Is Your Pride Not for me, depression down that road. Have to do something constructive that showed me I had other skills. For ages we have heard of would-be golfers driving around because they can't afford to be a member. I suppose this idea is similar. Pride is important.

POPSBlack Bloc Tactics of a black bloc can include vandalism, rioting and street fighting, demonstrating without a permit, misleading the authorities, assisting in the escape of perpetrators arrested by the police, administering first aid to persons affected by tear gas in areas where protesters are barred from entering, building barricades, and attacking police. However such blocs are not inherently violent; participants often use peaceful methods of protest as well. Although black blocking is usually connected with some form of direct action, some black blocs also participate in wholly symbolic action, as well as actions that fall entirely within traditional definitions of nonviolent protest. Property destruction carried out by black blocs tends to have symbolic significance: common targets include banks, institutional buildings, outlets for multinational corporations, gasoline stations, video-surveillance cameras, and similarly emblematic forms of private property.

POPSEgyptian Cleric: Boycott Starbucks Because Queen Esther in Logo He pointed out that Starbucks coffee shops are located in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, as well as in Cairo. “You should boycott this company,” he declared. “It is not enough to avoid entering this coffee shop. It is not enough to refrain from drinking this coffee. You must urge people never to go there.” "We Want Starbucks To Be Shut Down Throughout The Arab And Islamic World... Can you believe that in Mecca, Al-Madina, Cairo, Damascus, Kuwait, and all over the Islamic world there hangs the picture of beautiful Queen Esther, with a crown on her head, and we buy her products?” Higazi demanded.
