POPSKuiper belt free of Plutoids Plutoids are objects that are similar size objects to Pluto in the distant reaches of the Solar System. Maybe Pluto will get promoted again, and we could even call a few more Planets. Surely there's room for a few more there's plenty of Space

POPSWhich Clean Fuel Will Drive Your Future Car? The ideal clean fuel for future cars will be affordable, easily available, and will produce zero CO2 emissions into the environment. So why not pick a clean fuel and develop it to the nth degree? Sounds simple enough. Unfortunately, it’s as complicated as a Chinese puzzle. We need fossil fuels to produce the clean fuel that allows us to use an alternative fueled future car. There are clean fuels like electricity with zero CO2 emissions, but the majority of electricity is produced at power plants that use fossil fuels.

POPSMirror-Image Clues to Life's Origins From the source: The meteorites did this by providing building blocks with a slight preponderance of that handedness (known scientifically as chirality) that makes life possible. "We know that all amino acids start mirror-image the same, but in living things they have this handedness," said Ronald Breslow, a Columbia University researcher who published recently on the topic. "This change doesn't happen spontaneously, and we've never been able to reproduce it in the laboratory" under conditions similar to early Earth. "The answer to where it comes from looks increasingly like meteorites," he added, "from extraterrestrial bodies falling to Earth. It's a complex story, but we're beginning to understand it better."

POPSMercury as Revealed by MESSENGER Once again, the Astronomy Picture of the Day brings us current events from way out there to let us know there's more going on than the petty events on our puny planet.

POPSNew picture of planet Mercury Image caption: The first of MESSENGER's ultra-high-res images of previously-unseen areas of the surface of Mercury. Taken January 14, on the upper right is the faint outline of the giant Caloris impact basin, including its western portions - never before seen by spacecraft. Caloris is one of the largest, youngest basins in the solar system

POPSCalifornia Soon To Be Reading By Candlelight If the Great and Powerful Algore demands 100% compliance - Kaleefornia shall comply. Well, half-way anyway. And when the ecofreaks sue to prevent all those windmills and solar farms and new transmission lines that are required? Well, candles await. Keep it up California. You will show the way down into the New Dark Ages.

POPSAir Car Compressed air cars are powered, in short, by air. Air is compressed and then it is released which is the source of propulsion. These air cars have been in the developmental stages for many years and are very, very close to reaching wide commercial markets.

POPSScientists create solar cells with a twist. I suppose it won't be hard to have the power to at least power a Laptop. Perhaps a Solar powered tent for camping. We are finding new ways to transform energy into media we can use, and it, with the open information on the web is only bound to improve dramatically
