POPSLowes Selling Solar Panels (DIY) There is a catch though: "You put solar panels on your roof without a permit, bad things happen to you," said Jeff Wolfe, CEO of solar installer groSolar. "The utility could shut off the power."

POPSCopenhagen Junk Science Summit Will Produce As Much Carbon as Malawi
The United Nations conference set targets for cutting global greenhouse gas emissions from farming, industry and transport in a bid to prevent dangerous global warming. The aim is to keep the rise in world temperatures to within 2C by the end of the century. Climate scientists believe a 40 per cent cut on 1990 levels of emissions is needed by 2020 " rising to an 80 per cent cut by 2050. At the same time, Western nations will be asked to pay into a fund worth around 100billion a year to help developing countries protect themselves against rising sea levels, droughts and floods, and build their own wind turbines, clean power plants and arrays of solar panels. President Obama and Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen have conceded that the conference will not produce a legally binding treaty. The UN has confirmed that the flights, rail, bus, food and energy from the conference will generate at least 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

POPSSun Powered Tree-Top Classrooms More from the article below: "The BREEAM “Excellent”-rated project focuses on recycled and low-impact architecture and design. While the heating and cooling systems run on a ground-source heat pump, rainwater is also harvested to reduce potable water use. Moreover, each pod is equipped with a set of solar panels that provide the necessary energy for illumination."

POPSUber-Thin Modular Solar Panels Energize Any Building
Each Sulfurcell panel is composed of a protective frameless glass exterior layered over an enclosed solar module that is able to withstand mother nature’s most unforgiving trials. A single hair-thin semiconductor layer is coated on the back of the hardened glass surface, and each module features 82 strips of thin-film solar cells coated on the back and integrated wiring cable inside. In order to keep the solar panels cool and maximum efficiency, the panels are rear-ventilated and have recessed drainage channels which direct rainwater around each cassette. Sulfurcell utilizes copper-indium-sulfide semiconductors, which enable them to produce cells hundreds of times thinner than conventional photovoltaics, which in turn reduces the manufacturing costs. Production is said to use only half the energy used to manufacture conventional solar modules. Sulfurcell has been a pioneer in the photovoltaic industry since 2003, and the company has been named by The Guardian as one of the world’s t

POPSJapan Plans Solar Station in Space The next step, expected around 2020, would be to launch and test a large flexible photovoltaic structure with 10 megawatt power capacity, to be followed by a 250 megawatt prototype. JAXA says the transmission technology would be safe but concedes it would have to convince the public, which may harbour images of laser beams shooting down from the sky, roasting birds or slicing up aircraft in mid-air.

POPSClowns pwn Nazi/KKK rally - Awesome! Truly brilliant. "Alex Linder the founder of VNN and the lead organizer of the rally kicked off events by rushing the clowns in a fit of rage, and was promptly arrested by 4 Knoxville police officers who dropped him to the ground when he resisted and dragged him off past the red shiny shoes of the clowns. http://www.volunteertv.com/home/headlines/7704982.html"

POPSScientists create solar cells with a twist. I suppose it won't be hard to have the power to at least power a Laptop. Perhaps a Solar powered tent for camping. We are finding new ways to transform energy into media we can use, and it, with the open information on the web is only bound to improve dramatically

POPSEnergy crisis is postponed as new gas rescues the world
"The common wisdom was that unconventional gas was too difficult, too expensive and too demanding," he said, according to Petroleum Economist. "This has changed. If we ever doubted that gas was the fuel of the future – in many ways there's the answer." The breakthrough has been to combine 3-D seismic imaging with new technologies to free "tight gas" by smashing rocks, known as hydro-fracturing or "fracking" in the trade. The US is leading the charge. Operations in Pennsylvania and Texas have already been sufficient to cut US imports of liquefied natural gas (LGN) from Trinidad and Qatar to almost nil, with knock-on effects for the global gas market – and crude oil. It is one reason why spot prices for some LNG deliveries have dropped to 50pc of pipeline contracts. We may soon be looking at an era when gas, wind and solar power, combined with a smarter grid and a switch to electric cars returns the country to near energy self-sufficiency.
