Flunked Sun Tzu 101
merrie
by merrie  11-28-2009    5
Unfortunately it won’t alter the ambitions nor the operations of the Jihadists. Who, for the most part are undoubtedly intelligent enough to spot a sorely inept effort and stupefyingly vague result when they see one. Besides, the bottom line is that they don’t care what we call it. They are still calling it Death to America. The Obamodians unofficially renamed the Global War on Terror for themselves and their fawning surrogates in the media. Second, Commander in Chief Obama’s premature announcement to close the facilities at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, before solving the issues involved in the handling of inmates who will continue to be detained and eventually tried, reveals a lack of sound operational awareness. How will he manage the consequences of allowing enemy combatant inmates to be tried in federal courts, as if they were United States citizens, where the accused can choose to represent themselves? Self-representation that grants enemy combatants full access to

Geithner Says Credit-Default Swaps Weren't the Problem, After All.
merrie
by merrie  11-20-2009    3
But if Mr. Geithner now says the AIG bailout wasn't driven by a need to rescue CDS counterparties, then what was the point? Why pay Goldman and even foreign banks like Societe Generale billions of tax dollars to make them whole? Regulators say that having taxpayers buy out the counterparties improved AIG's liquidity position, but why was it important to keep AIG liquid if not to protect some class of creditors? Yesterday, Mr. Geithner introduced a new explanation, which is that AIG might not have been able to pay claims to its insurance policy holders: "AIG was providing a range of insurance products to households across the country. Yet, if there is one thing that all observers seemed to agree on last year, it was that AIG's money to pay policyholders was segregated and safe inside the regulated insurance subsidiaries. If the real systemic danger was the condition of these highly regulated subsidiaries"where there was no CDS trading"then the Beltway narrative implodes.

Corrupted doctors
aklimento
by aklimento  11-5-2009
When you lied once at least, who will trust you further? Striking example of our totally corrupted medicine and health care. Corrupted by whom? Who corrupt society and its institutions? How we calling those who perform the corruption and their accomplices? If these organized individuals do corrupt our society, how can we expect any benefits for our health and well being from them, their actions? Lie cannot last forever and in the end the truth will find its way out. Who will resist to make it happen?
