He was sent to prison for a short time, but Thomas ordered him released early, according to the Press-Register. He was sentenced in federal court and later released and has since been accused of murder and attempted murder. During Thomas' judgeship, he had a storage room furnished like an office near his eighth-floor chamber at Mobile's Government Plaza, the Press-Register said.

Of the 2,688 reports filed last year, 705 were initially made under that restricted program. But victims are allowed to change their minds and pursue an investigation later, and that was done in 102 of those cases, thus 603 remain restricted.

Despite their greater disapproval of homosexuality, blacks' opinions on sodomy laws, gay civil liberties, and employment discrimination are quite similar to whites' opinions, and African Americans are more likely to support laws prohibiting antigay discrimination. Once religious and educational differences are controlled, blacks remain more disapproving of homosexuality but are moderately more supportive of gay civil liberties and markedly more opposed to antigay employment discrimination than are whites. Yet religion, education, gender, and age all have weaker impacts on black than on white attitudes, suggesting that black and white attitudes have different roots.

POPSA Bad Law The recurrence of offense by rapists and pedophiles is well documented. But what about the multitude of teens that are branded with the scarlet letter of sex offender? The present laws make no distinction between a rapist and an adolescent experimenting with sex. Yet the consequences are the same regardless of the "crime". This is foolhardy and a tremendous waste of taxpayer money to say nothing of the devastating consequences of teens being caught with their pants down. What began as a law to protect children has turned children into lifelong pariahs and that is not right.
