POPSSeeking Eye Contact I continue to seek out other eyes during intermissions at theaters, hoping I’m not committing some venial social sin by invading anyone’s personal bubble of space. To date, few have sought mine. I look into the eyes of my grandchildren even before I hug them. And recently, Jonah, the 10-year-old, actually looked back at me and announced with some interest that my eyes are blue. Actually, they’re green. But it’s a start.

If I go to another one, which I seriously doubt because my husband is already extremely annoyed, then maybe I’ll play a plumber. Aside from the fact that we actually need more plumbers in this society - grad students who lie about their academic credentials? Not so much - it should also be noted (as Patterico cheerfully does) that Ms. Mayer was apparently accompanied to this meeting by the Woman With The Office With The Che Flag. It should also be noted that when you get caught lying in this comprehensive a fashion (particularly when the lie that you’ve been caught in reflects this badly on your side) you probably shouldn’t exhibit this much of an attitude in response. Because I’m pretty sure that the University of Houston doesn’t like its grad students to go to public forums and lie about their academic credential

Between Madoff, Wall Street and the banks wiping out a large portion of people's money and then the taxman, government, and foreclosures/layoffs taking the rest, there is not much for criminals to steal. You have to figure theft is out of the question since large majority of population has no $$, breaking and entering is tough - since so many foreclosures.
