Making such a grand prediction that scientist can even build a robot that won’t commit a crime is asking for too much faith from us. Noel Sharkey, a computer scientist at Sheffield University, best known for his involvement with the cult television show Robot Wars, is the leading critic of the US plans. He says: "It sends a cold shiver down my spine. I have worked in artificial intelligence for decades, and the idea of a robot making decisions about human termination is terrifying." POPSDawkin I, unlike the majority of ordinary people ,have read much of Professor Dawkins thought provoking thesis. With rare clarity, I can also understand why the religious masses shiver at his observations. What Dawkins has made me do is stop looking for answers in the mythical heavens, but within the hearts and aspirations of Man. The true question is surely what is GOOD and what is EVIL? Good is easy to define; the music of Mozart, the words of Shakespeare and Goethe, the actions of the Red Cross and its’ workers. Evil is that which brainwashes children into beliefs that have no substance, blind obedience to mystical books written by genius writers over two millennia ago, and not allowing children to grow with the human instinct of inquisition. I have no doubt that if we do not challenge the evil amongst us, humanity will fail

POPSMore signs of Global Cooling Tons of snow in the NE in early Dec. As I sit here in the Texas Hill Country writing this it is 30 degrees outside, and much of SE Texas is under a hard freeze warning. This year marked the coldest August in Chicago since records have been kept. Reports from Antarctica that the snow mass is increasing. The more we shiver, the more Algore and the loony liberals look ridiculous, which, in all categories, they are.

These proposals could actually damage cohesion....You don't build community cohesion by throwing out our history and denying the fundamental contribution Christianity has played and does play to our nation. As a British Muslim I can see that -- so why others can't just staggers me." She added: "The thought of Gordon Brown sharing responsibility with me for bringing up my children sends a shiver down my spine. I thought we got rid of communism."

POPSSecond Life Gets Real Weather from Boston What a development. I bought clouds recently for over my house in Second Life because it makes the sky and the experience that much more real... plus they are pretty :) A Boston based Interactive agency Windward Mark, that was bought by Linden Labs in May, is going to integrate their atmospheric rendering software to make real-life weather possible in Second Life. How far will it go though? I mean currently you can "force" the sun to sunrise and sunset and so with these new developments will we be able to force rain, clouds and even snow?! Will puddles form as it rains? Will snow make our avatars shiver unless we are clothed properly? We will have to wait and see.

POPSLake Effect Snow Continues To Fall In Upstate New York This is in the next county over and we're being hit as well. We're on our 3rd snow day and they're already canceling after school activities for tomorrow, so I'm wondering if tomorrow will be snow day number 4 in one week's time. (Considering how stingy our Superintendent is with snow days in this town, I'm very shocked. LOL)
