POPSCreationist gag order for Grand Canyon park rangers Political appointees overseeing National Park Service operations have ordered that Grand Canyon park rangers not say anything about the geological origins of the canyon to avoid offending biblical literalists who believe it originates with Noah's flood.

POPSStephen Hawking: "National Health Service Save My Life" "End-of-life counseling" is about living wills, advanced care directives, and power of attorney. It's about establishing what you want re: your care in advance so they're on record if you find yourself not in a position to express them yourself, e.g. a coma. It is NOT about euthanasia, or bureaucrats deciding who is worth keeping alive. That's an outright lie. AND the UK National Health Service is the reason Stephen Hawking is alive today.

POPSFormer Secret Service Tell-All: Jimmy Carter a Fake, Phony, Liar Not surprising to me, but Reagan and Bush got the best reviews...the nicest. Read it and weep: http://www.northstarnational.com/2009/10/14/secret-service-agent-opens-window-private-lives-presidents/ Carter “didn’t want the police officers and agents looking at him or speaking to him when he went to the office,” explained an assistant White House usher. “The only time I saw a smile on Carter’s face was when the cameras were going,” one former agent told Kessler. After his presidency, Kessler reports that when Carter would stay at a townhouse maintained for former presidents in D.C., he would take down pictures of other presidents and put up more pictures of himself! “The Carters were the biggest liars in the world,” one agent told Kessler of the Carter era. Not surprising, liberals say they're for the common man; in an episode of Fringe maybe.

POPSClipmarks - Supergranular Version More reviews of clipmarks: One from Yahoo Finance (via Business Wire) and one from Webware. I loved Rafe Needleman's review at Webware and the "supergranular version" naming. :-)

POPSPeople Are More Comfortable With Ignorance "Polls now show that the majority of Americans support openly gay service — a majority did not in 1993 — but there have been no recent broad surveys of the current 1.4 million active-duty service members. A 2008 census by The Military Times of predominantly Republican and largely older subscribers found that 58 percent were opposed to efforts to repeal the policy; in 2006, a poll by Zogby International of 545 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans found that three-quarters were comfortable around gay service members. Mr. Gates, for one, has expressed skepticism about how accurately polls reflect true opinion on the policy. “To get people’s real feelings about it, you have to have almost a one-on-one private conversation,” he told reporters last week. “I think it’s very difficult for people to speak in front of their peers on this issue. The germane question, he said, was, “Can you work with people who are different from you?”

POPSThe Land of ‘No Service’ "So, like it or not, coming here forces you to think about the blessings and curses of “connectivity.” “No Service” is something travelers from the developed world now pay for in order to escape modernity, with its ball and chain of e-mail. For much of Africa, though, “No Service” is a curse — because without more connectivity, its people can’t escape poverty. Can there be a balance between the two?"

POPSPanoramio - great free service Greta new service. Upload your pictures and share by locating it on a map. Example http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=39.928889&ln=116.388333&z=5&k=2&a=1 It becomes more more exciting when looking at the results form Google earth, just add new network link and use this URL http://www.panoramio.com/panoramio.kml Now, when you enable it (check it), wherever you have your view point, you see pictures, which people uploaded and linked to that specific location I do not think it repayment for Flickr, its different service, and its nice. Also I see they have ads by Google, so everyone is happy, we get free service and they get their share, that is how it needs to be.

POPSAnother nice review of Amplify We haven't been seeking out the reviews, but nice to see Amplify getting noticed. I clipped this paragraph because it speaks to one of the reasons we created Amplify as a separate service from Clipmarks. We really didn't want to disturb the user experience or community on Clipmarks.com, but we wanted a way to better support Twitter and Facebook users as well as groups. We felt the best way to do this would be to create Amplify as a separate service from Clipmarks, but giving Clipmarks users the option to sync the two.

POPSRemembering Rosh Hashana in Nazi Germany For the first time since the advent of Hitler, the exterminator of millions of Jews, a public Jewish service was being held and broadcast live to the United States by NBC. POPSFamilies vs Schools on Service Dogs for Autism Service dogs have long been used by the blind, but training them to help those with autism is relatively new. While there's little research on how these animals affect autistic children, families like Kaleb's say they have seen marked improvement. And the support group Autism Speaks includes a list of dog-training groups among resources on its Web site.

POPS"Mandatory service" bill baloney Once again, the email gossip circuit offers total baloney about the supposed "mandatory public service system" and its corallary fantasy "participants are not allowed to go to church." Click through to see the fact-by-fact refutation.

POPSBarack Obama faces 30 death threats a day Most however, are kept under wraps because the Secret Service fears that revealing details of them would only increase the number of copycat attempts. Although most threats are not credible, each one has to be investigated meticulously.

POPSRNC: Secret Service Shakes Down Ron Paul Delegates This is the neo-republican convention where fascism is evident as if McCain is President and the 1st amendment does not exist. See what we mean about the change in the Republican Party? “You can’t bring that in here, this is Mc Cain territory” -- RNC Security Meanwhile the background music at some point is probably playing (like on Sean Hannity), "Let Freedom Ring...."
