POPSTop 10 Small Business Trends for 2010 In the 80s rescession, Charles Handy came of up the term "portfolio person" to describe how people would make a living. I have been advocating homeworking and the importance of the local economy (and local currencies) since then, too. As a content analyst, I have been advocating "analytical tool" for (self signifying) "data driven decisions" for even longer. And we are still a small business. But it looks like the opportunity to become a big business might be presenting itself. The data seems to be pointing that way (along with our order book).

POPSIt's About Executive Function Karl Malone correctly, in my view, put this gun incident in proper perspective. It's wrong, and it's the worst incident that has ever happened to the NBA and it's reputation. I believe that this incident proclaims the nonexistence of the brain's executive function. This is the part of the brain that controls impulsive, dangerous behaviors. Only someone with immature impulses could have done this. It's too bad, Gilbert Arenas didn't ask someone with a more mature sense of self-control how to keep his guns appropriately away from his children. It seems to me that Karl Malone had a good idea of using a safe...OR he could put them in a safety deposit box. He certainly didn't need to put them in a public place where POTENTIALLY other children might find them. I'm hoping that the NBA will help provide the NBA players involved in the incident with some lessons in properly storing guns. It may be too late, but it's worth the effort.

POPS"...his brain is squirming like a toad." We woke a zombie on the Paxil post. Click link, see twisted thoughts.
In response to my Paxil post -- Is Paxil creating more people who aren’t self-reflective? More “Conservatives Without a Conscience”? Happy Idiots http://bit.ly/4EBV8s -- I received the post below from a real zombie, an actual conservative, with thought patterns similar to Michelle Bauchman, Glenn Beck, Palin, the tea-baggers, all the Republicans (notice how they do everything in unison -- complete authoritarian mind-control. Wow. Scary. Who knows, maybe they are the Borg! (As Palin, would say, *wink*)) Here's my response to his comments below. And remember to be kind to this drug addict. Who knows if he wouldn't be one of us is he wasn't popping that Matrix-promoted soma (Paxil)? My comment to him follows: Sorry to wake you from your Paxil-induced unreality. You remind me of the people I know on Paxil. They see their own traits reflected outside of themselves. As a therapist of 40 years, I'm quite familiar with that. It's called projection. And lacking self-ana

POPSIs Paxil creating more people who aren't self-reflective? More "Conservatives Without a Conscience"? Happy Idiots
Oh, great! That's all we need is more people who are happy, belligerent, idiots. I've noticed this personality change in people who have started taking antidepressants. Seems they are extroverted at the cost of empathy, self-understanding, self-consciousness. Hey, I've been there -- it's called inebriation. And, by the way, I've also noticed a tendency for these antidepressants to be doorways to other drugs, like alcohol, as a matter of fact. And these are dangerous combinations, as acknowledged by the proponents of these SSRI drugs. I say, right on, to Dr. Drew's comment on this: "I can't believe that these dangerous drugs like Paxil are still being viewed as possible solutions to "depression". We all need to get a clue that we are being marketed to in ways we never imagined." The holy man from India, Sathya Sai Baba, says that the path to liberation is through self-analysis, i.e., "know thyself." If we weren't balanced in terms of introspection and extroversion, would

POPSIt's All Obama's Fault! The New Self-Help(?) Game More examples from article below: "D. (The delivery person brought you the wrong pizza). President Obama is from Chicago, which is famous for it's deep-dish pizza. It is President Obama's fault that you got the wrong pizza, since he is destroying the morale of hard working pizza-delivery people. E. (Your girlfriend just dumped you). Before Barack Obama became engaged to Michelle, they were boyfriend and girlfriend. It is President Obama's fault that your girlfriend dumped you because she is looking for someone who is an elitist like he is." And, etc..... By str-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-tching your imagination, this little "blame-game" will work to enable you to place all responsibility for your own life (as well as everyone else's) at Obama's doorstep. Yay!

POPSSometime During The Night and Early Morning of Dec 29-30 1916, Grigory Rasputin Is Murdered by Russian Nobles
Fearful of Rasputin’s growing power (among other things, it was believed by some that he was plotting to make a separate peace with the Germans), a group of nobles, led by Prince Felix Youssupov, the husband of the czar’s niece, and Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, Nicholas’s first cousin, lured Rasputin to Youssupov Palace on the night of December 29, 1916. First, Rasputin’s would-be killers gave the monk food and wine laced with cyanide. When he failed to react to the poison, they shot him at close range, leaving him for dead. A short time later, however, Rasputin revived and attempted to escape from the palace grounds, whereupon his assailants shot him again and beat him viciously. Finally, they bound Rasputin, still miraculously alive, and tossed him into a freezing river. His body was discovered several days later and the two main conspirators, Youssupov and Pavlovich were exiled.
