Poverty Is The Answer - Environmentalism
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  3-27-2009
But you can bet that he and his co-believers would strive mightily to stifle development in now destitute areas of the world--dooming perhaps billions of people to lives of continued squalor, disease, and lower life expectancies. More to the point of what we discuss here at SHS, human beings are a logical species: We take our ideas where they lead! (Thus, once Americans accepted the verity of Jefferson's "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal..."it doomed slavery, because servitude and equality are incompatible.) For the same reason, once we accept the fundamental premise of the piece--that we must sacrifice human prosperity to "save the planet"--the misanthropic ideology of Deep Ecology--humans as a viral infection afflicting Gaia--with radical depopulation as the cure--consider the genocidal implications--become a logical next step

Gordon Brown Attempts To Establish Himself As An International Statesman
merrie
by merrie  3-4-2009
Mr Brown, who did not make his usual claim that the economic crisis began in the US, hailed American innovation as he appealed for it to lead the world out of the economic “hurricane” and protect the planet from climate change. “I say we should seize the moment, because never before have I seen a world so willing to come together,” he said. “Never before has that been more needed, and never before have the benefits of co-operation been so far reaching.” He added: “I believe that you, the nation that had the vision to put a man on the Moon, are also the nation with the vision to protect and preserve our planet Earth.” Mr Brown, who has studied Franklin D Roosevelt’s 1930s New Deal, said it was time to revive that visionary spirit. He delivered his address 76 years to the day since President Roosevelt told Americans that the only thing they had to fear was “fear itself”. video (2:38)

Do you know where your seeds come from?
spirithiker
by spirithiker  1-8-2009    1
Americans dislike corporate monopolies. Monsanto has stealthily become just such a monopoly. But they are carrying their game of ‘world domination’ to another level. They are genetically modifying our food stuffs in such a way that will guarantee their position in the food and home gardening industry. They currently control 85%-90% of the U.S. nursery market. Their ‘close relationship’ with government has made it almost impossible to save seeds from plants you grow on your own land. And just to ensure their position at the top of the heap they are genetically modifying every plant they control so that any seed produced is infertile. If your crops experience some sort of disease, Monsanto will sell you the chemical that will turn on the disease fighting gene in that plant. The only way, for now, that we can fight this Franken-monster company is to buy heirloom seeds. Heirloom seeds do not have patents but I imagine Monsanto is working to ‘correct’ this condition.

Mayor Adams' Sex Scandal
iulawboy
by iulawboy  1-22-2009
Come on man - you abused your position by shagging an intern (don't care if you really did wait until he was 18) and then lied during the campaign to save your political ass. This certainly is a character issue. Hold gay politicians to the same standards as straight ones. How would this play if Adams was straight and it was a female intern we were talking about?

Pain Hurts More If Person Hurting You Means It
Kelika
by Kelika  12-20-2008
"These findings speak to how people experience pain and negative life events. If negative events are seen as intended, they may hurt more. This helps to explain why torture is so excruciating – not only are torture techniques themselves exceptionally painful, but it's the thought that counts—and makes torture hurt more than mere pain. On the other hand, if negative events are seen as unintended, they may hurt less. This may explain, in part, why people in abusive relationships sometimes continue to stay in them. By rationalizing that an abusive partner did not intend harm, some victims may reduce their experience of pain, which could make them less likely to leave the relationship and escape the abuse."

Gov. Palin on Family Planning: The Eagle Forum questionnaire
zizzy
by zizzy  9-2-2008    3
  3. Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools? Sarah Palin: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support. 8. Do you support parental choice in the spending of state educational dollars? Sarah Palin: Within Alaska law, I support parents deciding what is the best education venue for their child. 12. In relationship to families, what are your top three priorities if elected governor? Sarah Palin: 1) Creating an atmosphere where parents feel welcome to choose the venues of education for their children; 2) Preserving the definition of “marriage” as defined in our constitution, and 3) Cracking down on the things that harm family life: gangs, drug use, and infringement of our liberties including attacks on our 2nd Amendment rights.

Marine's Simple Act Of Kindness To Save An Abused, Injured Dog
merrie
by merrie  2-23-2008    2
He couldn't take the dog with him and watched as it tried to follow the Humvees away from the border. Two days later, while Dennis and a comrade were working on a Humvee, he looked up and saw the dog staring at him. "Somehow that crazy damned dog tracked us," he wrote Jan. 9. But the reunion was short lived. Military policy prohibits having pets in war zones, and Dennis was given four days to get the dog off the base or kill him. The decision was easy: Nubs was going to San Diego. The logistics, though, were anything but easy. With help from his Iraqi interpreter, Dennis managed to find a Jordanian veterinarian to get the care and paperwork needed to get it to the states. He also negotiated the red tape to get the dog across the border into Jordan. His family and close friends helped raise the $3,500 needed to get the dog from Amman, Jordan, to San Diego, said his mother, Marsha Cargo.

Harder! * Another set, and we can hit the showers! * I'm not wearing underwear, can you tell? Locker Room Gaze In locker rooms, men shall practice the unfocused "seeing without looking" gaze, enabling them to see where they are going without actually looking at anyone else. Walking around nude in the locker room is wrong! Wear a towel.  "There are a lot of people who live to be 90 years old and are smokers," he said. "Why? Probably because of their diet…The implications are that those who start smoking at an early age are more likely to become vitamin A deficient and develop complications associated with cancer and emphysema. And if they have a poor diet, forget it." If you or someone you love smokes, or if your work necessitates exposure to second hand smoke, protect yourself by making sure that at least one of the World's Healthiest Foods that are rich in vitamin A, such as bell peppers, is a daily part of your healthy way of eating.

No it can't. Its all a PR stunt. I can imagine what peoples reasoning will be on this " sure..if there are millions of people attending these gigs for this reason surely that many people cannot be wrong!" Sounds like a good argument, but they are wrong. In my next clip I'll quote some UN leaders who state that they need some sort of excuse to get people to comply with a world governement. Clearly they need some excuse for coming out in the open with it and Climate Change is the one. If your really worried about your "carbon footprint" hold your breath for 20 seconds a day. I'm doing my part..are you ;D
