Republican Plan To Kill Off Government
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  1-29-2008    5
View the chart on the right, notice in the past 30 years, how the Repubs have been pushing us down into a deep financial hole. Why? I can only come up with the conclusion that the red side of the aisle is out to kill off government, as we know it, altogether. Allowing them free reign to privatize EVERYTHING in the world which will allow their dreams of a World Global Market, in which they become the rulers of, to come true. The damn pesky Dems keep getting elected in interims and bring the NAT'L DEBT down to a manageable size. Just imagine if they had ruled straight through this 30 year period, their fantasies of total control would be actualized by now. I know this is a simple analogy of what the hell they are up to but maybe that's how they get away with what they are doing. Just act as though their plans are SO COMPLICATED, too difficult for the average American cretin to understand. Waddayathink? Lot's of info in this link: http://www.thethinkingblue.com/natldept.html

Incredible World Wildlife Fund Posters From Around the World
urbanlife
by urbanlife  4-4-2008    2
WWF’s ultimate goal is to build a future where people live in harmony with nature. Here are a couple of the messages: “Preserve your world. Preserve yourself.” “Global Warming is changing the world’s climate rapidly. Icebergs are melting, oceans are rising, nature is revolting. Act now, conserve energy and treat the planet with respect, or we’ll have a world at sea.” “Animals around the world are losing their habitats due to climate change. By choosing a hybrid or fuel-efficient car, you can help prevent this. Take action now.” “Save the world with a few coins” “For Nature, small animals are as important as the big ones.” “A single can of dissolvent, or tin of paint, can pollute millions of liters of water.” “Building a single golf course puts thousands of trees at stake.” “Where is your home?” http://www.wwf.org/

Join the American Freedom Campaign -- Restore the Constitution
blueridge
by blueridge  11-5-2007
This is a practical way through action alerts to contact Congress on various issues. Included now is Ron Pauls legislation and a call for the Senate to vote no on Mukasey for A.G. this week. Act now to save your freedoms. (This is not the same as Bruce Fein's "American Freedom Agenda", very similar name, that is more conservative, yet both are addressing presently the abuse of the Constitution. The one above has allies like ACLU and Moveon.org, which might differ on other grounds from this pledge above. The Constitution is not a partisan document and deserves to be defended by all).

Asking A Judge To Save The World
debbyski
by debbyski  3-29-2008    3
"But Walter L. Wagner and Luis Sancho contend that scientists at the European Center for Nuclear Research, or CERN, have played down the chances that the collider could produce, among other horrors, a tiny black hole, which, they say, could eat the Earth. Or it could spit out something called a “strangelet” that would convert our planet to a shrunken dense dead lump of something called “strange matter.” Their suit also says CERN has failed to provide an environmental impact statement as required under the National Environmental Policy Act."

Al Gore Is Bad For The Planet
merrie
by merrie  4-22-2008
Iain Murray's rollicking exposé of environmental blowhards who waste more energy, endanger more species, and actually kill more people, than the environmental villains they finger. Did you know that estrogen from birth control and"morning after" pills is causing male fish across America to develop female sex organs? Funny how "pro-choice" and "environmentalist" liberals never talk about that. Or how about this: the Live Earth concert to "save the planet" released more CO2 into the atmosphere than a fleet of 2,000 Humvees emit in a year? We hear a lot about AIDS in Africa, but the number one killer of children in much of Africa is malaria-and guess who was responsible for banning the pesticide that used to have malaria under control? Iain Murray, a sprightly conservative environmental analyst with a long record of skewering liberal hypocrisy, has dug up seven of the environmental catastrophes caused by the Left and exposed them in The Really Inconvenient Truths.

The VA is a Real Class Act
cptenaud
by cptenaud  6-12-2008    2
We know what that means -- fee waiver or not, the VA has no intention of letting any more incriminating e-mails out of its clutches. Let's hope there are more courageous VA employees willing to blow the whistle on what the VA is, and is not, doing for our veterans. The VA also claimed it could not respond to the request as written because CREW failed to identify the specific VA offices and employees that would have responsive records. As CREW made clear in its response, we are committed to shining the brightest light possible on the VA's treatment of veterans suffering from undiagnosed PTSD and we will not back down from these shameless excuses that the VA has offered.

Indian elephants turn thespians to save wild mates
Deepti
by Deepti  11-6-2007    1
Villagers are increasingly encroaching on forest land, while elephants are increasingly barging into villages, killing dozens of people each year, often by trampling on them. The villagers' tactics involve building makeshift electric fences from electric pylons around villages, which electrocute elephants on contact. A dozen elephants have been killed in this way in eastern India so far this year, conservationists say Only about 120,000 square km (46,340 square miles) of India's landmass -- less than four percent of the total -- is suitable for elephants, according to a survey by the environment ministry last year

Soldiers of Christ: Inside America's most powerful megachurch with Pastor Ted Haggard

No pastor in America holds more sway over the political direction of evangelicalism than does Pastor Ted, and no church more than New Life. Having lived in Colorado Springs for 6 years, some people ask me what it's like living in what some consider the Christian Capital of America. Colorado Springs has a lot going for it besides Dr. Dobson and Ted Haggard, but politically and spiritually speaking, this article explains how the city became the center for the Religious Right movement.

The Truth Behind Bush's Tax Cut Plan: Korsakoff's Syndrome
ouyangwulong
by ouyangwulong  1-23-2008    7
Bush proposes tax cuts to save us from a recession. Apparently he doesn't remember that he's been cutting taxes for the last 6 years, and that's what brought us to the brink of recession in the first place. If six years of consecutive aggressive tax cuts won't save our economy, then wouldn't it seem obvious that one more year of aggressive tax cuts isn't going to either? In fact, I can make the argument that the tax cuts are actually causing the recession, due to our staggering deficit. Doesn't he have any other ideas? Doesn't he remember saying the same things over and over again as things get worse and worse? Korsakoff's Syndrome is what the guy in Memento had, where he couldn't remember what happened 5 minutes ago. One of the causes of Korsakoff's Syndrome is a depletion of Thiamine (Vitamin B1) caused by substance abuse and alcoholism. Given Bush's history, this clip is only half joking.

Dr. David Evans: Australian Greenhouse Office - 1999 to 2005
merrie
by merrie  7-24-2008    1
There has not been a public debate about the causes of global warming and most of the public and our decision makers are not aware of the most basic salient facts: 1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever. If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming. If we had found the greenhouse signature then I would be an alarmist again. When the signature was found to be missing in 2007 (after the latest IPCC report),

Marine's Simple Act Of Kindness To Save An Abused, Injured Dog
merrie
by merrie  2-23-2008    2
He couldn't take the dog with him and watched as it tried to follow the Humvees away from the border. Two days later, while Dennis and a comrade were working on a Humvee, he looked up and saw the dog staring at him. "Somehow that crazy damned dog tracked us," he wrote Jan. 9. But the reunion was short lived. Military policy prohibits having pets in war zones, and Dennis was given four days to get the dog off the base or kill him. The decision was easy: Nubs was going to San Diego. The logistics, though, were anything but easy. With help from his Iraqi interpreter, Dennis managed to find a Jordanian veterinarian to get the care and paperwork needed to get it to the states. He also negotiated the red tape to get the dog across the border into Jordan. His family and close friends helped raise the $3,500 needed to get the dog from Amman, Jordan, to San Diego, said his mother, Marsha Cargo.
