POPSChanging The World "It can start with just a few small steps. Mrs. Parks helped transform a nation by refusing to budge from her seat. Maybe you want to speak up publicly about an important issue, or host a house party, or perhaps arrange a meeting of soon-to-be dismissed employees, or parents at a troubled school. It’s a risk, sure. But the need is great, and that’s how you change the world."

POPSThere's good news about racism in America When a Boston cop refers to Gates as a "banana-eating jungle monkey," when a town hall protester rips up a picture of Rosa Parks and the crowd cheers, look up! There's a reason racism is angry: it's losing ground.

POPSCFR Pushes Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) The Obama administration, like the Democratic and Republican administrations preceding it, stretching back the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (and even before), is heavily larded with CFR members in critical positions. Obama’s CFR appointments, so far, include Timothy Geithner, Robert Gates, Michele Flournoy, Lawrence Summers, Thomas Donilon, Rosa Brooks, James Steinberg, Susan Rice, John Holdren, Eric Shinseki, Daniel Tarullo, Mona Sutphen, and Jeh Johnson. His CFR advisers include Anthony Lake, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Madeleine Albright, Sarah Sewall, and William M. Daley. President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Secretary of State Clinton are not formal CFR members, but all three have been closely associated with the organization (speaking at CFR programs and/or writing for the CFR journal, Foreign Affairs), and all three have supported ratifying LOST while serving in the Senate.

POPS The link between race and the healthcare protests Many of the people who wish for the America that the Founding Fathers envisioned, don't realize that the FFs would view them with disdain because of their social class. They mistakenly believe that the Founding Father's would rescue and elevate them as equals out of shared pigmentation solidarity. Sure, they'd elevate them above darker pigmented people, but only to the status of pawn. Former Chinese Premier Chou En-lai once observed: "One of the delightful things about Americans is that they have absolutely no historical memory."

POPSSchool brass facing prison time for luncheon prayer I would be just as defiant if anyone tried to tell me that I couldn't pray, meditate, etc. when and where I chose. I agree if it was forced upon others then it would be wrong, but if one chooses to publicly pray, then so be it. Besides wasting tax payer money, doesn't the judge and others have any real cases to try. This is just plain waste of time and resource.

POPSCalifornia's most conservative county sucks up the public assistance by the bucket
Assemblywoman Noreen Evans, D-Santa Rosa, chairwoman of a legislative budget conference committee, ordered up a report last winter ranking which of the state's counties send the most tax money per capita to the Capitol, and which ones consume the most in health and other services. It showed that conservative counties - like Modoc, with 49.9 percent Republican registration, the state's highest - generally consumed the most, and liberal counties sent in the most. Marin County was No. 1 in contributions, at $4,793 per person, and San Francisco was No. 3 at $3,578. Modoc was No. 2 in consumption at $2,216 per person, and conservative Tulare was No. 1, with $2,223. "I don't think voters in the conservative counties understand the connection between the service they are receiving and the votes their representatives are making," Evans said…In Modoc, the way it works is that if the cuts being proposed go through, near-catastrophe will reign.

POPSMichelle Obama Has A Garden, Es ist verboten, für das Proletariat See. Barry wants everyone to be so dependent on the government he wants to deny you the ability to feed yourself. First: he destroys the economy. Second: he destroys the heath care system. Third: he guts the Second Amendment and his Fascist Thugs go door-to-door confiscating the guns of law-abiding citizens. Fourth: he destroys our abundance of food and water. Socialism...Marxism...call it whatever you want. In order to be effective it needs dependents, and this is Pbama's Grand Plan; making every single one of us dependent on the Federal Government. Barry and Pickles. Neither of them has ever done a hard day's work of manual labor and neither of them has done an honest day's work, period. They're the Affirmative Action Couple of America. They want America's riches "handed" to them.

POPSService dog's generous nature inspires young owner to help others For nearly two years Adam's been growing his hair, down to his shoulders now — even though it gets tangled in his wheelchair head pads and he's unable to reach up and disentangle it, even though he's often mistaken for a girl — to help another kid, a kid he's never met, a kid gone bald. Later this week, he's getting his long hair cut to donate to Locks of Love, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair from cancer treatments, trauma, burns or other conditions

POPSMonsanto To Criminalize Organic Farming ? To begin reversing GM contamination will require ending the power biotech companies such as Monsanto exert over our government and through that, over our food. HR 875, was introduced by Rosa DeLauro whose husband Stanley Greenburg works for Monsanto. The bill is monstrous on level after level - the power it would give to Monsanto, the criminalization of seed banking, the prison terms and confiscatory fines for farmers, the 24 hours GPS tracking of their animals, the easements on their property to allow for warrantless government entry, the stripping away of their property rights, the imposition by the filthy, greedy industrial side of anti-farming international “industrial” standards to independent farms - the only part of our food system that still works, the planned elimination of farmers through all these means.

POPSFascism Comes to the Hometown Farmers Market "Under the act, every food producer must have a written food safety plan describing likely hazards and preventative controls they have implemented and must abide by "minimum standards related to fertilizer use, nutrients, hygiene, packaging, temperature controls, animal encroachment, and water." DeLauro's act calls for the Food Safety Administration to create a "national traceability system" to retrieve history, use and location of each food product through all stages of production, processing and distribution. Olson believes the regulations could create unjustifiable financial hardships for small farmers and run them out of business. "That is often the purpose of rules and regulations: to get rid of your competition," he said. "Only people who are very, very large can afford to comply. They can hire one person to do paperwork. There's a specialization of labor there, and when you are very small, you can't afford to do all of these things."

POPSequality is sexy - love not H8
(CALIFORNIA) Day of Decision on Proposition 8 California's battle over same-sex marriage went before the state's highest court, with civil rights lawyers seeking to overturn a voter-approved ban on gay weddings. Hundreds of supporters and opponents gathered outside the Supreme Court in San Francisco for the hearing, which came 10 months after the court legalized gay marriage in a landmark ruling last May. That ruling was cast into doubt last November when voters passed a change to California's constitution that redefined marriage in the state as a union between a man and a woman. Supporters of same-sex marriage are seeking to have the results of the referendum, known as Proposition 8, quashed on the grounds that minority rights should not be vulnerable to a simple majority vote. The stakes in California are high – a good decision would help fortify the LGBT community against what could be some very difficult years of economic strain and scapegoating. A bad decision woul
