POPSBoston launches flu shot tracking
Infectious disease specialists in Boston and elsewhere predicted that the registry approach could prove even more useful if something more sinister strikes: a bioterrorism attack or the long-feared arrival of a global flu epidemic. In such crises, the registry could be used to track who received a special vaccine or antidote to a deadly germ. "Anything you can do to better pinpoint who's vaccinated and who's not, that's absolutely vital," said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy at the University of Minnesota. "I wish more cities were doing this kind of thing." Boston is believed to be the first city to embrace this particular approach to tracking vaccinations against the seasonal flu, estimated to kill 36,000 people each year in the United States, principally the elderly. But when Boston bought the monitoring system from a Milwaukee company in 2006, emergency authorities had a far different use in mind: tracking people injured in

POPSGet A Free License For Registry First Aid, A Registry Cleaner
It scans 100% clean using AntiVir. Some points to note: 1. In German "Nachname" means surname while "Vorname" means first name. 2. After installing the program you can register it via the help menu. 3. There is always a risk with any registry cleaner that it may mess up your PC. That's why you should always do a backup before erasing "erroneous" registry entries. Registry First Aid offers you a backup option right at the start; make sure you take it. Gizmo PS. Many thanks to Rhiannon for alerting me to this offer. ADDENDUM: Looking at the various comments on registry cleaners below I figured I should add my two cents worth: Over the years I've seen registry cleaners create just about as many problems as I've seen them fix. That's not to say you shouldn't use them; the trick is to use them wisely. Using them wisely pretty much amounts to not using them all that often. The very worst way to use a registry cleaner is as part of your regular computer maintenance.

One of the reasons it’s so expensive is the plethora of new federal government programs it would create. House Republican Leader John Boehner offers comment. POPSYoga Faces Regulation, and Firmly Pushes Back
The registry was created by the Yoga Alliance, a nonprofit group started in 1999 to establish teaching standards in an effort to have the industry regulate itself. In a recent newsletter, the alliance warned its members that nationwide licensing might be inevitable, “forcing this ancient tradition to conform to Western business practices.” “We made it very, very easy for them to do what they’re doing right now,” said Leslie Kaminoff, founder of the Breathing Project, a nonprofit yoga center in New York City, who had opposed the formation of the Yoga Alliance. “The industry of yoga is a big, juicy target.” New state regulations would not directly affect the drop-in classes attended by many of the 16 million Americans estimated to practice yoga. But the classes they would affect are an important source of revenue for many schools, and, of course, train future instructors. “It’s the perpetuation of the species,” said S. J. Khalsa, who operates Kundalini Yoga East in Manhattan, a

POPSIs the Adam Walsh Act failing in the States? I suppose the $12 to $37 million that it would cost each state to implement isn't worth a child's life. The individual states would rather loose 10% of their funding than put this act in motion by July 27. Sad shame.

POPSA law to ban plagiarists for a year from using print
A few naysayers may argue that print bans might be hard to enforce, and that banning communication based on mere accusations of wrongdoing raises some minor issues of due process and free speech. But if those issues don't trouble us in the Internet setting, why should they trouble us here? Yes, if banned from using print, some students will be unable to do their school work, some adults will face minor inconvenience in their daily lives, and a few troublemakers will not be allowed to participate in -- or even listen to -- political debate. Maybe they'll think more carefully the next time, before allowing themselves to be accused of copyright infringement. In short, a three-strikes system is just as good an idea for print as it is for the Internet. Which country will be the first to adopt it? Once we have adopted three-strikes for print, we can move on to other media. Next on the list: three-strikes systems for sound waves, and light waves. These media are too important to
