POPSJesus Hated War-Why Do Christians Love It So? More from the article below: "A major unasked question is “what should be the role of religion (specifically Christianity) in the starting and perpetuation of politically motivated wars?” If war-makers mix religion and politics by invoking God’s blessings on the cannons and the cannon fodder, shouldn’t the churches, which are supposed to be the consciences of the nation, apply core Christian ethical principles to the war question and refuse to cooperate with the slaughter of fellow children of God? Sadly, for the past 1,700 years, Christian churches have not done so. They have largely failed in their moral obligation to teach and live the Golden Rule and the Sermon on the Mount."

POPSVatican will be asked to remove four bishops if they don’t quit
The Bishop of Limerick Dr Donal Murray, who was also an auxiliary bishop in Dublin before being promoted to Limerick, resigned from his position last week. It has emerged that if the four bishops — who say they did no wrong — do not stand down voluntarily on the principle of collective responsibility, Archbishop Martin will petition the Congregation of Bishops in Rome to remove them early in 2010. On Friday, the Irish Primary Principals' Network also wants the four bishops to be accountable for their actions — or inactions — in discharging their child protection responsibilities. Taoiseach Brian Cowen backed Archbishop Martin's stance, saying it was “a time for leadership and accountability” in the Catholic Church. Mr Cowen said: “The resignation of Bishop Murray is a welcome indication that those who are in positions of leadership and responsibility in the Church are facing up to their responsibility in the light of the very clear findings of the Murphy Commission.” Howeve

POPSBanks Get Into the Unemployment Biz Ye gods, do their little tick-tock minds ever quit? And why are we privatizing social programs? And why are our state legislators permitting the banks to abuse the unemployed through inquiry and withdrawal fees? More below: "For now, those without jobs who are trying to stretch every dollar from unemployment insurance are finding the banks eager to nibble away at even those modest sums."

POPSAl Gore Goes From "Save The Whales" To "Join The Whales"
"I've finished on one mountain and starting on the second one. We've also got trees planted in Brazil and small gardens planted all over Central America, but I admit that I'm a little behind", he joked as only Al Gore can. "Butt I should be able to catch up by doubling up on the tree planting." Gore said he has made contacts all over the world in his new venture and even helped a family in Afghanistan. "They were growing poppies to sell for opium because they needed the income to feed their families. I suggested that they grow food instead of poppies to begin with and it was like a light bulb...the new fluorescent ones of course, went off in the farmer's head." Gore said the organizing of the new "Join The Whales" will begin this weekend at his home in east Tennessee. "We've got a big room here at the house that five of us can easily fit into." Gore went on to say that himself and Tipper take special pills to cut down on the flatulence, "Our effort to cut down on Global

POPSWhy is the "cure" nearly always worse than the cause? I become more concerned with modern medicine in the form of pharmaceuticals daily. They are making rash, profit motivated, decisions and the government falls in line as the tax revenue and lobby gifts/graft is running free. Get healthy, get some sun, eat fresh, local produce and quit feeding the mega-national beasts.

POPSThe Federal Student-Loan Takeover Gets Booed in Academia
But before the bill has even come to the Senate floor, federal officials have been making unsolicited contacts to schools urging them to accept this "public option." In October, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan sent a letter to schools nationwide offering to help them "in taking the necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted access to federal student loans by ensuring your institution is Direct Loan-ready for the 2010-2011 academic year." Schools got the message. The leader of a large university recently refused to discuss the issue with us on the record, fearful that the feds are taking names. Rep. John Kline (R., Minn.) has asked the Department of Education's inspector general to investigate efforts by officials to encourage outside groups to advocate for the ban on private lenders. He wants to know if department staff violated a federal law against lobbying with appropriated funds, among other possible offenses. WSJournal http://bit.ly/6P78Lb

POPS Official Hot Air: The Obama Watch (actually 17.5 percent by the government's own numbers, counting "discouraged" workers who've quit looking for a job and counting part-timers seeking full-time), and the economy still losing a quarter million jobs per month, and 2.9 million jobs lost since Obama signed the $787 billion non-stimulating stimulus bill into law in February, the administration's economic agenda is basically a suicide mission that treats job creation like cigarettes -- something to discourage through increased regulations, more central controls and higher taxation. The basic Law of Demand principle in Economics-101 shows that consumers purchase less of something when the price goes up, and it's no different with employers and entrepreneurs when they're deciding on how much labor to purchase or how many jobs to create through business expansion or new start-ups.

POPS Obama's Judenfrei Policies What has since resulted from Obama's ill-informed, grandiose pronouncements is Abbas threatening to quit due to Obama's failure to achieve a settlement freeze, Palestinians contemplating a unilateral declaration of an independent state with U.N. backing, and the likely hardening of positions on both sides of the conflict. It looked like the administration had awoken to reality when, for a brief period of time, it began to ease up on previous statements. However, this week, Obama made it perfectly clear where he stands on this completely misguided position. In an interview with Fox News, Obama condemned the construction of nine hundred new apartment units in Jerusalem, stating: I think additional settlement building does not contribute to Israel’s security. I think it makes it harder for them to make peace with their neighbors. I think it embitters the Palestinians in a way that could end up being very dangerous.

POPSScientist In Climate Change 'Cover-Up' Storm Told to Quit In one of the most damning messages, Professor Jones appeared to respond to the death of a climate skeptic with the words ‘in an odd way this is cheering news!’. The leak has been a huge embarrassment to the climate unit at the University of East Anglia, which is a global leader in its field. Although there is no hint of evidence that climate change is not real, the emails appear to show researchers manipulating raw data and discussing how to dodge Freedom of Information requests. Yesterday, Mr Monbiot, who writes on green issues, said the emails could scarcely be more damaging. ‘I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken,’ he said. ‘There are some messages that require no spin to make them look bad. ‘There appears to be evidence of attempts to prevent scientific data from being released, and even to destroy material that was subject to a Freedom of Information request.

POPSModern Day "Caveman" Lives Without $$ Daniel Suelo lives in a cave. Unlike the average American—wallowing in credit-card debt, clinging to a mortgage, terrified of the next downsizing at the office—he isn't worried about the economic crisis. That's because he figured out that the best way to stay solvent is to never be solvent in the first place. Nine years ago, in the autumn of 2000, Suelo decided to stop using money. He just quit it, like a bad drug habit. His dwelling, hidden high in a canyon lined with waterfalls, is an hour by foot from the desert town of Moab, Utah, where people who know him are of two minds: He's either a latter-day prophet or an irredeemable hobo. Suelo's blog, which he maintains free at the Moab Public Library, suggests that he's both. "When I lived with money, I was always lacking," he writes. "Money represents lack. Money represents things in the past (debt) and things in the future (credit), but money never represents what is present.

POPSCupkates Truck battles City of Berkeley over parking location issues more: On Monday, I met with two departments: one who assured me my permit is still valid and I am authorized to vend in legal parking spaces, and another who told me that it is against city law to do so. The deputy city manager assured me that she would resolve the discrepancy and get back to me on Tuesday. Today, I went to meet with her and was informed that she was too busy to see me; Berkeley Police then escorted me out of the building. I stressed to the city that I quit my job and invested my life savings building a business that the City of Berkeley permitted and endorsed just three months ago. Every day I remain closed, waiting for the city to sort out internal miscommunications, I lose a tremendous amount of income. The city’s response to my crisis has been to continually ignore me and now to have an armed officer escort me out of city hall.

POPSRachel Maddow Takes On Pete Hoekstra MADDOW: Why is it Pete Hoekstra who's taking it upon himself to tell the press that this radical cleric is having his email read by U.S. intelligence agencies? Well MadCow - because the media bows to Obama and reports only the "oh he's such a sweet guy" kind of stories - do not expect everyone to goose-step right behind you. Typical far-left attitude though - attack the messenger instead of the facts. Hasan is a home grown Islamic Terrorist - who murdered 13 on US soil while masquerading as a US Soldier. He did it in true Islamic form shouting Allah's praise prior to opening fire. My question is - why the hell don't pukes like yourself quit trying to cover up facts and try reporting them for a change, that is if you can stop your Obama idolizing long enough.

POPSPlanned Parenthood Director Who Quit Now Rejected by Episcopalian Church "I do not intend to be dismissive," the Rev. John Williams wrote the Times in an email, "but my pastoral responsibilities to this faith community preclude making public comments." "I am sure you understand how important it is for me to foster healthy communication around this emotional issue - that is only possible, as I said, in the context of my pastoral ministry to all," he said. The Times indicates having problems finding a church home is nothing new -- with pro-life denominations rejecting her before her conversion. She told the Times that another employee who went to the church with her was told by Planned Parenthood officials not to associated with her and so she stopped attending. The abortion business claimed in comments to the Times that that isn't true. Johnson is not sure on what to do about her church membership. "We really, really love that church," she said. "We don't want to leave."

POPSTalk About Playing The Victim Card Ms. Prejean: If you made a sex tape when you were 17 years old, the first mistake you made was sending it to your boyfriend. Things like these have a way of coming back to haunt you; boyfriends come and go sweetie, but video tends to be there forever. Please quit playing the victim of your God -spoke-to-me crusade against gays. It looks bad when you pretend to put your chastity belt on to the world and do something entirely different in private.

POPSThree more quit over Nutt sacking Professor Nutt was sacked more than a week ago in response to views he expressed in an academic journal in January and a lecture he later gave at King's College London. He spoke out against the government's decision to toughen penalties for possessing marijuana and argued that the drug is less harmful than tobacco or alcohol.

POPSWhat Americans owe to those who serve "Each November we are asked to pause and honor them, which is, or should be, an honor in itself.
