Fox TV - No Shame for Beck Trivializing Holocaust
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  10-13-2009    9
People have been making money by the sack full and gaining power and recognition for generations preaching about who listeners should hate, fear, outlaw, lynch, beat to death. Hitler and Stalin have been joined by Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs and many wannabe head haters - including an ex-governor. In a market-driven economy what's one of the best ways to respond? For me it is to let Fox and CNN know, I am not watching until things change and and recommending the same to others. No Fox, No CNN. No advertising on Fox or CNN. Will they miss me - grin? Only if several hundred thousand join with me in skipping their favorite shows on Fox and CNN. I managed to quit smoking after forty years - cold turkey - so I think I can manage without my local or national Fox, or even the shows I like on CNN until they change. How about you?

I can understand the debate that this situ has caused. I'll agree with both sides, simply because I can't "pull the pin" on people because the education, indeed life, processes have failed them.

Our Molecular Age vs. Our Chronological Age

It's official, tobacco use and physical inactivity, not really BMI, ages you. Time to quit smoking and start exercising more. The more interesting question: Could counteracting p16INK4a be the real fountain of youth? Did Juan Ponce de León need a genetics degree, not a ship and armed men?

"My work often leans toward humour. Finding the humour in things often leads to finding the truth. I like to create absurd situations, by combining things together that don’t belong, or imagine what inanimate objects would say if they could speak. For instance, the pen I am using to write this draft would probably say: "I'm tired. Can we stop for a bit?" Or perhaps it would say: "I can't believe you're making me write this. This is rubbish. Signing cheques would be more inspiring than this." These are the things I think about. I think about alot of things. I think about thinking. Don't try it though, it's not worth it. I use watercolours in ways you shouldn't. I make my own sketchbooks. If I smoked, I'd roll my own. I'd rather draw than rent a movie. Don't try to start a conversation with me about recent films. I haven't seen any. I play the guitar. My artwork and the materials I use are quite compact. You could fit my studio in a large suitcase."

Anti-Smoking Drugs May Have Psychological Effects
tabsey
by tabsey  7-14-2009    1
I saw the physical effects that Zyban can have, and they were mild compared to some reports. Be very careful if any changes happen. On a lighter note, I'm not sure if there were any mental effects as my wife has been not enjoying "change of life". Could be either. :)

smellydiaper

Really makes me mad when government turns into dictatorship and tries to control my life. Yeah i knows it's bad for you. I know it will eventually kill me. BUT... I don't do drugs, never have, i don't drink, and since doctor told me to either give up cigarettes or sex....well there went the wife...lol I don't bother other people with my 2nd hand smoke because i do respect their wishes not to inhale my smoke. So leave me alone with the smoking ! Have them taxed so much now it costs a fortune. But not alcohol or other things bureaucrats enjoy....why is that. Won't be long before there will be another Tea Party. This time not in Boston but nation wide.

Smoke, Smoke, Smoke That Cigarette...No Wait.

Satire...Satire...Satire " finally, all these states and the federal government are raising their taxes to fund children's health programs- they say. this latest .60 cent tax increase is what started me thinking that today, as the new tax goes into effect, was the time to quit, so instead of the sick little kids getting $1.01 a day in taxes from me to fund their health programs, they're losing .41 cents, or $4.10 a week from me, State Farm, wants to up my new rate a few hundred a month because now I'm fifty and a smoker, so I'm dropping them and getting accident insurance instead and in two years when my rates would drop because (if) I've been a non smoker for that long, I'll go with another company with my business. "I'll keep you posted on how this is going, but right now I've gotten myself so upset that if I don't stop bitching I'll need a smoke to calm down.

Smoking. The most important thing you can do to prevent AMD is to never smoke or to quit, because smokers are at greatly increased risk, says J. Timothy Stout, associate professor of ophthalmology at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Ore. • Diet. People who eat lots of dark green vegetables and foods rich in omega-3 fats, such as fish, are less likely to develop AMD, Chew says.

Is smoking a character issue ?
willhelm
by willhelm  11-22-2008    1
I think quitting smoking many, many moons ago was crucial to my intellectual, spiritual, and ethical development. Is smoking a character lapse and a sign of immense weakness, given the dangers to himself and others? After all, the children of smokers are more likely to become smokers. Should we expect his love, concern and care of the country to be any more than the display of love, concern and care for his own children? I wonder.

Sarah sad statement about 'Merika--Matt Taibbi
papananook
by papananook  10-4-2008    3
Sarah Palin is a symbol of everything that is wrong with the modern United States. As a representative of our political system, she's a new low in reptilian villainy, the ultimate cynical masterwork of puppeteers like Karl Rove. But more than that, she is a horrifying symbol of how little we ask for in return for the total surrender of our political power. Not only is Sarah Palin a fraud, she's the tawdriest, most half-assed fraud imaginable, 20 floors below the lowest common denominator, a character too dumb even for daytime TV -and this country is going to eat her up, cheering her every step of the way. All because most Americans no longer have the energy to do anything but lie back and allow ourselves to be jacked off by the calculating thieves who run this grasping consumer paradise we call a nation.

More Big Pharma, Bad Science - Non-smoking Drug
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  8-16-2008
Now, which is worse in your opinion... Smoking or Suicide? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Most would answer ...I THINK I WOULD RATHER SMOKE THAN FOR SURE KILL MYSELF BY TAKING A DRUG TO NOT SMOKE. The saddest part of this is that they (BIG PHARMA) are using our veterans as Guinea pigs in their trial and error tests. Just so they can put on the market more deadly drugs and coerce, we the public to buy into their schemes that make them rich!
