Paid Thugs Put on Lipstick - Remain Thugs
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  12-9-2007    1
Terrorists hiding in your shrubs? Jihadists in your crawl spaces? Has Ahmed at the 7/11 been looking more and more suspicious? Never fear, Blackwater is here. For a mere few million you too can enjoy the comfort and safety of knowing that steroid buffed "professionals" are keeping you safe. Unless, of course, the "other side" decides to offer a bit more to the kitty. Well, that's just the wild and wacky world of mercenaries.

Fire survivors give thanks
pokkets
by pokkets  10-28-2007
Thank the Firefighters, not Bush or FEMA. In Australia Firefighters are voluntary, because most of them know first hand, the destruction of which it is capable. That at any time a fire fighter, with a change of wind can be trapped, and be lost in the fire they are fighting. A blazing inferno is not something that anyone with conscience can order someone to enter. Anyone who is not prepared to enter a firefight of their own free will is a risk to the crew, and any firefighter knows this. It's one thing to thank god, but between god and any fire, is the willingness of a firefighter to risk, even sacrifice their lives. Politics and bureaucracy is an unwelcome meddler. When it sees a Fire it wants to plan. Firefighters know there is no longer any time for plans. Actions are needed, at what ever cost. Or people will die.

First class help for San Diego fire victims
Erik Schiegg
by Erik Schiegg  10-24-2007
It reads that in San Diego public support for the fire victims is excellent. Far better than for the hurrican katharina victims in New Orleans. What is the difference? In New Orleans live poor people and in San Diego rich people. Good that they help in San Diego, better if they helped the poor-ones as well.
