POPSGirls entering puberty by the age of six - but are drugs the answer?
"Early puberty has even been linked to watching too much television. A few years ago, Italian scientists found that children who watched three hours a day produced less of the sleep hormone melatonin - low levels of the hormone play an important role in the timing of puberty. But perhaps more worrying is the theory that it's exposure to environmental chemicals which is causing the drop in the age of puberty. These chemicals mimic the effect of hormones, disrupting the normal timing of sexual maturing. Whatever the cause, growing numbers of children are being deprived of childhood and are turning, physically, into mini-adults at an increasingly young age. But without the emotional maturity to deal with these changes, they are vulnerable to exploitation. In Britain, it is now estimated that up to at least one in six children under ten is affected. Indeed, there is a belief that schoolgirls as young as six are entering puberty".

POPSPIMPIN OUR DAUGHTERS In the words of Hillary Clinton ' It takes a village' why does it take scientific studies and polls to make us aware of what is going on in our own families and culture? I mean does it really require society to tell us what is wrong with our families? DADS must someone else tell you what is appropriate behavior for your sons and daughters? As long as there is pop culture and idols are made of television stars our young people will be tempted to look like what they see on TV and in the movies. Perhaps a return to decency and a little old fashion modesty is in order?

POPSCultural Diversity? Or Just Wrong? This is sure to stir up controversy. Knowing what we know today, should be stand quiet and ignore the lives scared by this archaic practice because of cultural diversity? I fervently believe we need to speak out and show our revulsion over such primitive and harmful ideas. We know that practices such as this are harmful to women but hesitate to bring them to the forefront for fear of offending certain segments of the population. I couldn't disagree more. These "traditions" need to be exposed to the light of modern thought and people need to express their outrage for such devastating practices.

POPSMAJORITY WOULD DIE BEFORE THE AGE OF FIVE It is difficult for a woman to know that she will have a sick child...I can't understand...They don't have enough help, then why having more babies?...Please, if I'm wrong, tell me because each time that I read this things makes me sad...The article says that mother to child transmission programmes have been slow to get off the ground in sub-Saharan Africa. Half a million babies are estimated to have been infected with HIV at birth or during breastfeeding last year alone. The Zimbabwe study suggests as many as one in four may survive into adolescence. One of the main public health messages, she said, was the need to prevent infection from mother to child during birth and breastfeeding The baby can be protected, but relatively few pregnant women with HIV are offered the chance to protect their baby.

Your Skin Has Four Colors - All skin, without coloring, would appear creamy white. Near-surface blood vessels add a blush of red. A yellow pigment also tints the canvas. Lastly, sepia-toned melanin, created in response to ultraviolet rays, appears black in large amounts. These four hues mix in different proportions to create the skin colors of all the peoples of Earth.

POPS12-year-old Kim is the World's Youngest Transsexual. I have mixed feelings about this particular situation. I am not personally comfortable with the idea of having a child of such a tender age making a decision of such a monumental nature. I am also concerned about dealing with hormonal development during puberty. But, I am not a doctor, and all I can do is with the best of luck to Kim and his family.

POPSAutism: A Unique type of Mercury Poisoning Children with Autism tend react to Mercury. Their bodies see this, and many other substances as an allergen. This provokes an allergic response which we know known precedes an immune response. Eliminating an allergy to Mercury is simple and parents of autistic children can be taught how to do this procedure in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Please don't dismiss this. DNA Allergy Reprogramming has already made incredible changes in autistic children. I feel I have a duty and a responsibility to share this with you as this is not talk - this is a solution!

POPSMiss Conceptions And those numbers are extremely conservative. Why start at 17? Why not go lower? Why only women? Is it no big deal if your son gets someone knocked up? Drop that age down to puberty, and throw in the boys and the numbers are much larger.

POPSAggressive teens have mismatched brains
It is said, as it has been said for a while, that 'Kids are growing up quickly these days' and the speed seems to relate to the rate of technological progress, but 'growing up' is a double edged sword. While many have a remarkable ability to understand computers, and recently developed innovations, and crack some of the most elaborate codes, to the point where earlier generations can't keep up with them, emotional maturity does not match this advance in a similar way, and may in fact be stunted by the preoccupation of the brain with technical knowledge. An important question is rising which concerns the development of both children and adolescents, where growth will establish the bases of adult physiology and understanding - the relationships between emotional intellectual and physical development, and how they are changing. Of course nothing will ever make puberty a cakewalk, but if parents and other adults are going to provide the best support. When, and when not to get involved?

POPSEarly Puberty For Girls
Marcia Herman-Giddens at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, US, who first noted the declining age of puberty in US girls in a landmark 1997 study, says the findings are further cause for alarm. There are huge health and social complications,” Herman-Giddens warns. “Imagine being eight or nine years old and having men hit on you because you have breasts. Grown women have enough trouble dealing with unwanted sexual advances – imagine being in the fourth grade.” She adds that girls who start puberty early do not do as well in school, are more likely to be depressed, and engage in early sexual activity an alcohol use. She notes that other factors, including girls growing up without their father in the home, lack of exercise, and endocrine disruptors - chemicals common in pesticides - could also be playing a role in the early onset of female puberty. Previous studies have also shown that early puberty leads to increased rates of reproductive cancer later in life.
